Hi, I'm Isaac I play guitar, sing, drums (sort of) and I "can" play bass. Most of this was in the letter that we wrote but i'll just write it again.

In 2019 I discovered what were to become my favourite band of all time, NIRVANA, I discovered Nirvana when I was playing Guitar Hero on my Xbox 360 and included was "About A Girl/MTV Unplugged In New York 1993" and was the most amazing song i'd ever heard. Since then i've spent years researching, watching, listening, documenting and doing and learning pretty much anything and everything to know about Nirvana. I know pretty much everything there is to know about Nirvana so if you have any questions i can answer it them 😂.

I've played in a couple bands over the last couple years. My first being a cover band that i joined in 2023 until I left after a couple months. My second band was one I started with my friend Alfie Tiplady who you may know as he's doing L3, Until we disbanded earlier this year, and my latest and current band (@ashworn_band on everything) is a cover/originals band who cover Nirvana and am planning to release music later this year.

I started playing guitar on the Christmas of 2022. I started playing right handed but never found it right as i'm left handed, so I switched to playing left handed about a year and half ago.

Nirvana - Drain You - This is my favourite Nirvana song and might even be might favourite song of all time. This song lyrically, musically and overall is one of (in my opinion) the best songs ever written. Similar to majority of popular Nirvana songs the simple catch riff is impossible to not like. The tempo is 136 bpm with the song changing tempo slightly throughout the song and this is a punk song. The meter of this song is 4/4. There are a total of 5 guitar tracks on this song, one suing Kurt's Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp which is the amp he used live into a Boss DS-1 for two tracks, Two more into a Fender Bassman into a Boss DS-1, and a final track (probably) straight into the board using a pedal which they named the "Super Grunge". Kurt used his Mosrite Gospel to record this song. This guitar is renowned for having a bright chorus inspired sound with it's unique body shape and air-coil pickups. Dave Grohl (Drums) used a Tama Granstar Drum Kit in Silky Yellow. Dave used pretty much only Zildjian Cymbals (18" Crash, 20" Crash, 22/24" Ride and 15" Hi-Hats. Although during the 1992 nevermind tour dave adopted an additional crash to his left over the Hi-Hat, this could be anything from an 18-22" crash but no-one is entirely sure.)

Silverchair - Slave - Written in 1997 whilst the band were only 17 years old, Slave is my favourite Silverchair song. The mix between the Grunge links from the Early 90s from bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam and the Older Metal roots from the 70s and 80s such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin makes the best songs of the time. The tempo is 116. The meter of this song is 4/4

Producer of the 22nd best selling album of all time "Nevermind" plus albums such as "Bricks Are Heavy" by L7 and "Siamese Dream" by The Smashing Pumpkins. Butch Vig has worked with band such as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and L7.

born in Viroqua, Wisconsin, Vig grew up in a music family with his mum being a music teacher. Vig played Piano for 6 years before seeing The Who perform on The Smothers Brothers in 1967 (The same performance which ultimately sent shards of cymbal into Keith Moon's arm and caused long-term hearing loss for guitarist Pete Townsend after Keith Moon has put explosives inside of his bass drum unaware to the fact that the tech had already set up explosives previously.) This show ultimately led Vig into trading his piano for a $60 drum kit.

Vig started a couple bands in the early days of his career including bands such as "Spooner" (Formed in 1974), "Fire Town" Started in 1986 until it's unfortunate end in 1989 Fire Town released two albums "In The Heart Of The Heart Country" (1987) and "The Good Life" (1989), and the band that is still around to this day "Garbage".

Vig started producing records in 1983 starting with smaller American rock bands such as Mecht Mensch, Killdozer and Die Kreuzen in the mid-late 80s and then moving onto bigger bands such as Urge Overkill and Cosmic Psychos in the early 90s, before working with bands such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, L7, Tad and finally Nirvana in 1991. Since then Vig has worked with a variety of bands such as Green Day, Foo Fighters, Goo Goo Dolls and most recently Silversun Pickups. Vig is best known for his work on Nirvana's Nevermind but his work with other bands can't be forgotten.

Nirvana - Breed (Live At Reading 1992)

After a hiatus in mid 1992 Nirvana was set to headline the Sunday on August 30th 1992 at the Reading Festival. Even up to the moment before Nirvana came on there were doubts that they were going to perform at all. When Nirvana came on Kurt came out in a wheelchair and wig to mock those who spread rumours of him being in rehab and unable to perform. This performance is considered one of their best and most iconic shows they ever did. In February 1992 Nirvana switched from playing shows in E Standard to Eb Half A Step Down. Breed in particular being the opening song of the show really shows the frustration Kurt had to release.

Silverchair - (Rock In Rio 2001)

Ultimately Silverchair's biggest concert with an attendance of over 250k people, Rock In Rio arguably one of the most iconic and biggest music festivals has hosted bands such as Queen (1985), Iron Maiden (1985, 2001, 2013, 2015, 2019), Metallica (2011, 2013, 2015), Nirvana (1993) and obviously Silverchair in 2001. Their first performance after a year Hiatus asides a one off performance on December 31st 2000 at the Falls Festival for a new years performance.

I also wanna improve my stage presence by moving more. Also after the first chorus on Car Underwater there was a miscommunication where there was a mistake going into the second verse causing the guitar to stop too early and the drums to stop too late. We also needed to practice the structure for come as you are as we messed it up a couple times.

What Did You Learn?

I learnt that to give a good performance you really have to give it your all. I think the performance well pretty well overall although there will always be something to improve on. I also learnt that communication within the band is very important for song structure as we made our own structure for Car Underwater and Come As You Are.

What Did You Enjoy?

I did enjoy performing, it was alot of fun and i am looking forward to future performances.
