Are you married? If so, how long have you been married? Yes. For two-and-a-half careers.

How long have you been in education: I started in the first grade and was in school 12 years for free. Then I went to college for several years and had to pay for it. Later, I found out they would pay me to go to school, and I have done that for 39 years. 

Where were you at before Crane: I lived in seven different Texas towns.

What do you do for fun: I go out to my land and wander around. I read a lot of books and try to improve my skills in things of passing interest. 

What do you like most about working in education: #1 is the student body. I've had a few jokers in the deck over the years, but overall have been dealt winning hands year after year. The faculty is not bad either. I've also had the privilege of honoring our veterans many times. 

How many siblings do you have: I have an older brother, but he has passed away.

Children/Grand Children: Sarah, Sean, Rachel, Sam-all CHS graduates. Several grandchildren, but how am I supposed to keep up with all these names?

What is one of your hidden talents? These hidden talents cannot be revealed until the end of the world is nigh.

What would students be surprised to find out about you? I was on a nationally ranked pistol team at UTA. I made a movie with Kevin Costner but all my scenes were cut. I think they thought I was upstaging him.

Do you have any pets? If so, what types of pets and what are their names? I have a dog. Her name is Murderhound.

What is your dream vacation: I've had a couple. One was to visit Mt. St. Helens in May of 1980. We would have been there at the eruption, but I got delayed by UTA telling me I needed one more credit that summer to graduate, and so, I lived. The other was a trip to Mongolia. It is a strange and wonderful land, but the food-yuck! I would like to go to Eastern Europe to look around as it was behind the Iron Curtain in my youth and forbidden to travel to.

What are your “trapped on a desert island” books or movies: Books: The Once and Future King by T.H. White; The Magus by John Fowles; Goodbye Darkness by William Manchester. They are master storytellers. Movies: The Wild Bunch; On Her Majesty's Secret Service; The Italian Job. All three were released in 1969, so it was a great year for movies. 

If you won the lottery and decided to give up working in education, what would you do instead: I would travel to the ends of the Earth, find a place for my kingdom, and rule with wisdom and benevolence.

What inspires you? My faith and my family that came before me and after me.

Is there anything else you would like to share? I have found that I should restrict my complaints and concentrate on solutions. You should leave a place in better condition than how you found it. And be the guy that your childhood self wanted to become.
