I learned that the majority of the countries who talk about the atomic bomb believe that it was unnecessary and wrong. They believe that it is wrong because it killed innocent people. In many different countries, the atomic bombs are only brought up briefly and if they were to mention the bombs all the teachers said was that the bombs ended WWII and/or the second bomb was unnecessary. This differs from what I was taught because there was a whole section dedicated to the atomic bomb. We talked about both possibilities the U.S. could've taken and the outcomes of the option they did take. Today, I learned about the different views that people have about the Hiroshima bombing and all of the death and destruction it left behind. The countries that had more of a role in the war had more in depth views. For instance Greece which had very little role to play learned only that the bombs were dropped to end the war, and that's all. The U.S. and Japanese views were much more in depth and took more time to learn about what happened and how it was affected. The article shows the different views of countries and how they feel about it. Many people in the US feel that the bombing was justified and that it saved many lives along with ending the war quickly. In Japan, it is taught that the bomb was unnecessary and harmful to many people in the country.
