Target Learners: Further education students studying communications in Whitehall College of further education.

Learning Design approach: ABC learning design

Timing: 90 minutes asynchronous

Learning outcomes for session:

1.Use of appropriate non-verbal and visual communication

2. Use of communication in personal- and work-related settings

Aim for students at end of session:

1. Students will understand the different styles of communications

2. Students will be able to list styles of non-verbal and visual communication

3. Students will demonstrate the benefits of digital communication in personal and work settings

The students will watch a Youtube video in which they gain knowledge on different communication styles. They will also learn about the ways in which verbal and visual communication can be used in the work place. We will focus in on digital communication as it is a key way of communicating in the workplace in todays day. After watching the video they will then fill out a worksheet on google forms to test their knowledge on what they have learned.

Time: 30 minutes

As students will now have a understanding on digital communication they will be asked to find advantages and disadvantages of digital communications in personal and work related settings using web quest.

Students will upload to a padlet discussion board what information they have on non-verbal and visual communications. They can see what knowledge they already have prior to learning and what areas they need to gain information on.

Students will complete a quiz on quizlet to test their knowledge and to see what they learned since the start of the lesson

Students will be put into groups and will use voice threads in which they can send voice threads to each other to discuss what they have learned in relation to communication in personal and work related settings.
