It is hard to believe we haven't been in school for 10 weeks!!!!! I don't know about you but I really miss being in school and seeing everyone. :(

For those of you who are not aware this week is Mental Health Awareness Week 2020. This week shines a light on the importance of looking after ourselves in our minds, our bodies and our souls.

We can look after our minds by making sure we get a good night's sleep, by not spending too much time on screens, by making some time for ourselves to do yoga, meditation or just quiet 'me time' and by challenging ourselves; we can look after our bodies by eating well, drinking plenty of water and getting some exercise; and we can look after our souls by doing things that make us feel good such as helping others and things we enjoy such as reading or art and having a laugh.

Remember, like in the poem I put up in the last Amber Flag padlet, it is ok to feel sad and it is ok to feel worried. It is ok to feel whatever it is you are feeling. Just remember that these feelings don't last and if you want to help yourself to feel better, why not think about doing something that makes you smile- such as singing at the top of your lungs to your favourite song, dancing around the place, reading a book or doing some art.

We all can have a 'mental first aid kit' where we can think of ideas and activities that help to make us feel better. For me when I am having a bad day, I love to put on cheesy music from the 1980's and sing along. I also love to go for a run if I have a lot of energy built up. I have a pretty box with some photographs, some letters and my favourite books in it which are some of the things in my mental first aid kit that make me smile. If you don't already have one, why not think of making one -write a list of the things that make you happy and collect some of your favourite things, then pop them into an old shoebox or tissue box (anything will work) - it is that easy.

I hope you and all your family and friends are all keeping safe and well.

Lots of love and positivity

Ms Walsh
