The Market Revolution sparked transcendentalism by influencing people to work in factories instead of at home and in more of a communal area. This then made people not appreciate the nature around them and Thoreau wrote Walden and his other notes to show the beauty that surrounds us.

"Let us spend one day as deliberately as Nature, and not be thrown
off the track by every nutshell and mosquito’s wing that falls on
the rails. Let us rise early and fast, or break fast, gently and without
pertterbation; let company come and let company go, let the bells ring
and the children cry,— determined to make a day of it. . . ." ( Thoreau, 210)
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front
only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had
to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I
wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary."

Romanticism is the belief that people should be more independent and able to provide for themselves by using art, literature to express inspiration for the world around you. Transcendentalism is the belief that you should not rely on government, social standards, religion, or the other people around you for the thoughts you are having and the appreciation of nature.

Explanation

This song parallels with transcendentalism because in the song the artist is singing about being different and having a change in society. the song talks about trying to believe in something different then what everyone is doing. Trying to find out his name in the song could parallel with trying to find a way to be different and to find out ways to change. The lyrics we chose show staying around to change something is a good thing at that time. Also how learning and following something new and different then other people is okay to do even though others may not like it. This is how the song shows transcendentalism.

Thoreau is exagerating how society has so many rumors that if we don't realize the truth we are not speaking that society will come crashing down in a "fire" that we can not put out. We all must realize that speaking the truth about our lives is the only way for our "fire" to get put out.
"I might almost say, but would forsake all and follow that
sound, not mainly to save property from the flames, but, if we will
confess the truth, much more to see it burn, since burn it must, and
we, be it known, did not set it on fire,—or to see it put out, and have a
hand in it, if that is done as handsomely; yes, even if it were the parish
church itself. " (Thoreau 209)

Argument for Solitude

In solitude Thoreau is explaining why he loves being around nature. He also goes into depth of why the people around him would feel lonely only because he lives alone in the woods a few miles away from the closest town. Thoreau explains that there is no reason for him to feel lonesome because they all live on the same Earth that is within the Milky Way Galaxy. People could not see the beauty around them with the weather, the plants and the animals. They say he must feel loneliest when it is raining or snowing but this is the time Thoreau is happiest because he can relate himself to the ripples in the water more then he can relate to the people around the town, who spread rumors and ask questions that don't make sense to him.
