With the SS curriculum moving toward inquiry based learning, this type of questioning and small group check ins lends itself well to the new state standards. I've been struggling to picture what the standards will look like in my class; this helps me a lot!

Small group models can be difficult for some students. Again, this requires a great deal of self control on the part of the students. They must show maturity and self discipline. Creating a culture of hard work, rigor, and engagement will help to facilitate student growth.

Small group in my class, is more of a one to one collaboration. My students are identified math strugglers. It takes a long tome for them to feel comfortable taking risks. In my class every day is a small group, with at times many many different groups.
