• I have selected this article because I like the idea of practices grounded in humanistic theory.
• Summarize the important concepts.
• This article provides information on a study that requires school counselors to provide evidence that programs being used actually work in their schools. The overall concept is for counselors to provide interaction that maximizes the human and social potential for all students at their respective schools.  The authors referenced the Delphi study of 2005 and the Student Success Skills (SSS) as models that counselors can use to ensure that student potential is being maximized. 
• Compare the information in the article with your experience with school counselors.
• I have not seen very many high school counselors who work with all students to "maximize" their human and/or social potential.  I have worked at a "C" rated school in my career and an "A" rated school most of my career. I have seen counselors work diligently to help the high-achieving students, but I have witnessed very few other students who have received detailed assistance from the counselors in my school.
