Bismarck played a pivotal role in the unification of Germany and served as Prime Minister of Prussia, ensuring a policy of "Blood and Iron" which was used in effort to gain more nationalism. He had a hand in "realpolitik's". He also played a part of three key wars, Danish War, Austro-Prussian War, and Franco-Prussian War. He had to provoke France into striking first and then the rest of the countries unified with him. Eventually, then he turned on them and used other means to conquer the other nations and become Germany.

The unification of Italy was known as the Risorgimento, and was a movement that led to the establishment of the Kingdom of Italy (1861). This movement was driven by political and military events that were presented t combine single Italian nations into one whole nation, (Nationalism). Key figures of this movement where Giuseppe Mazzini, who created the first republican party, "Young Italy", and Giuseppe Garibaldi; who led the Expedition of the Thousand to conquer the Kingdom of Two Sicily's.

Brazil's revolution towards independence was peaceful and without bloodshed compared to the rest of Latin America's countries. The leader was Dom Pedro 1, the son of King John VI of Portugal. He declared their independence and was crowned as emperor 3 months later. His leadership was influential in the relatively peaceful transition from colony to independent nation, although his popularity waned due to his autocratic style and involvement in Portuguese affairs. He eventually abdicated in 1831 in favor of his son, Dom Pedro II, and returned to Portugal to secure his daughter's claim to the Portuguese throne.
