What is your problem is your invention fixing/solving?

The problem we are trying to fix is when we go into school in the morning or even when we have assembly's people slip trash thru the bleachers. We see the P.E teachers having to spend their time sweeping the trash on the gym floor. We wanted to make an invention that would solve the problem of them sweeping the trash up. We invented the Bleacher Trash Holder. The Bleacher Trash Holder would stop the trash from falling on the ground, so all the teachers had to do was go under the bleachers and pick up the cup and dump the trash from the cup to the trash can.

What were some of your ideas on how to originally solve the problem? Which idea did you choose?

We our team got together we gave each other our ideas. We said the pencil falling off the desk and the trash holder. We all agreed that the pencil falling off the desk was way to easy to do. We wanted to challenge ourselves. We picked the trash holder. To solve the problem we knew that we needed a way for the teachers to just turn the object upside down and the trash would go into the trash can. Our originally idea was to have the plate on the bottom and the cup on the top. We switched it around because if too much trash fell into the plate it would dump over. We choose the cup to hold the trash because we knew the trash wouldn't fall out of the cup.

Explain the creation process of your invention? What materials did you buy and how much money did you spend AND save?

Our creation was to have 3 pieces of construction paper and tap them together and put holes in the middle of two of the papers. The trash would fall through the whole and land in the paper plate that was connected to the construction paper by string. After it fell through the construction paper and into the plate there was a hole the size of the cup and the trash would fall into the cup. The materials we used were 2 paper plates, 2 paper cups, 3 pieces of construction paper, 12 inches of tape, and 30 inches of string. The total cost was $49, we saved $11.

How did you work together as a team? Team leaders, do you feel like you led your team well?

I feel like we worked very well together. We gave each other our opinions and we made sure there was a part for each person to do. FOr example, when we first came together we sat down and asked each other our ideas and how we would go about building that idea. Once we all gave our ideas we all contributed and decided. Another example is for the 2 days we were working on it, we made sure each partner had a part in helping. Me being the Team leader was a great job for me. I believe i did led my team well, i made sure we were all pitching in and helping. I would totally would with my partners again!

You should invest in our invention because it would keep the gym or anywhere with bleachers cleaner. The trash that would usually fall in between the bleachers into the invention and people who usually clean the trash would have an easier job because they would only have to empty the invention into a trashcan.
