With the growing challenges related to urban development and natural hazards, I believe it is essential to advance modern engineering technologies and research methodologies to create resilient and efficient structural systems for the future.

My research focuses on the environmental assessment of natural building materials, especially unfired clay, using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). I am particularly interested in evaluating both the environmental impacts of building materials, such as Global Warming Potential (GWP), and their influence on indoor environmental quality and microclimate. My work explores how natural and locally available materials can contribute to healthier, more sustainable, and low-impact buildings.

In my free time, I enjoy folklore dancing, horseback riding or just spending time in nature. I am looking forward to meeting everyone in Bratislava! 🫶

My name is Ali Satar Jaber Al-Askary, and I am a PhD student at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Construction Materials and Technologies. I am originally from Iraq, where I also work as an assistant lecturer at the Middle Technical University.

My research focuses on sustainable construction materials, particularly the use of cellulose nanocrystals in cement-based materials to improve durability and long-term performance. I am very interested in environmentally friendly construction technologies, sustainable design approaches, and innovative solutions that can contribute to a greener and more resilient built environment.

I am excited to participate in the “Smart Design for a Green Future” programme because I believe it is a great opportunity to learn from different disciplines, exchange ideas with international participants, and explore new perspectives on sustainability and smart design. My programme is called landscape engeneering mainly focusing on: GIS maping and enviromental modeling, soil erosion control, soil protection and conservation, projects on revitalizing landscape and water management.

My name is Zubair Yousuf and I am originally form Kashmir. Presently I am pursuing PhD at Budapest University of Technology and Economics with a strong interest in sustainable construction materials, structural performance, and innovative approaches to solving engineering challenges. My academic work focuses on recycled aggregate concrete, elevated temperature behavior, material characterization, and the application of machine learning techniques in civil engineering research.
