Course : Globalization

In my opinion, the phenomenon of globalization can be seen in various aspects of everyday life, starting from the widespread use of communication technology to popular culture that is spread globally. I face it by being open to change and trying to understand and appreciate cultural diversity and different world views. I also try to remain critical and selective in consuming information and actively participate in maintaining a balance between global and local interests.

(Siti Aisyah Hamzah) for me one of the globalization phenomenon around me is the transparant of information in the social media. For example in this general election for president we can see that television did not give enough influence for the people about election quick count results. People now can give their own information and opinion in the social media for instance, the influencers and the experts of politics and even organization of some candidate pair that participates for counting the election results that more convincing and trustworthy. And at the end people can see, teach, believe and judge for themselfes about what's happening in the present.

I have encountered numerous phenomena of globalization around me, but one that is closest to me is the process of buying and selling through online shops, where we can purchase goods simply by using a smartphone without having to physically go to the store. The advancement of technology has led to the increasing popularity of online shopping systems, which are enjoyed by society. Online shopping is closely linked to the phenomenon of globalization. It allows consumers to access products and services from around the world, breaking down geographical barriers and enabling cross-border trade. This globalization of commerce has been facilitated by advancements in technology and digital communication, allowing businesses to reach a global audience and consumers to access a wide range of products with ease. Additionally, online marketplaces often feature products from different cultures and countries, contributing to the exchange and dissemination of ideas, trends, and cultural influences on a global scale. Overall, online shopping is a significant aspect of the broader process of globalization, fostering interconnectedness and exchange in the global marketplace.

As a student of international relations, I've observed the profound impact of globalization on politics. It's characterised by increasing global interconnectedness, driven by international organizations and technological advances. Navigating globalization means understanding its complexities and balancing its benefits with risks such as inequality and environmental degradation. Solutions require cooperation, innovation and a focus on sustainable development and human rights. Through my studies, I've learned to engage with the challenges and opportunities of globalisation, and to strive for a more just and peaceful world. And help me to know more about international politics too.

An example of globalization around me is K-pop. This music from South Korea is growing very fast and very significant because they are starting to go global and not a few idolize them, for example like Blackpink and BTS. And I also idolize several artists from South Korea who initially only knew but because the internet is getting more sophisticated we can find out what their activities are, their new albums and so on. I willingly accept the fact that they are idolized by many people, not infrequently they also bring culture from South Korea to be promoted, the South Korean economy has also increased because of them. This globalization has given them a huge impact because they can expand their network to the whole world from the internet, etc.

For me globalization phenomena that everyday can happen in my daily life is playing online game, basically it's really easy for me or other people to enjoy and have fun in online games, it means that how can one person connect to other people from arround the world is not impossible anymore. We have to accept and adapted in this modern era because the globalization not only about online games, we can see another example including how can we get information from all around the world by only using our smartphone, but don't forget to filter all the information you can get through your smartphone because we can't just believe what we read and what we get from the social media. Indeed this modern era is crazy because how fast this globalization creeping people from all around the world so once again there's the postive and the negative impact for human it self.

It is occurred to me that globalization is happening in rapid pace , and the phenomenon that i was interested is about communication became “borderless” , who would’ve thought that we can trade information and communicate around the world almost in an instant, it can be a tremendous step to the human race but it can also be something that can affect society as a whole, i face the phenomenon by being more careful and always do research before accepting an information.

As we know, globalization is a process of (information, thought, lifestyle and technology) going global. and many things have changed around us, such as when we used to buy goods or shop using money, and now use electronic money in the form of cards and cellphones. However, there is a positive impact, namely that society is becoming more advanced and work morale is increasing. And the negative impacts are narrowing job opportunities and environmental damage.
