This shows that Sister Aloysius is an old fashioned person since she is saying that it would not be appropriate for her, a nun (lower in the Church's hierarchy) to talk to Father Flynn, a priest, about his personal business. Instead, she thinks that he should go to the monsignor or another priest, which are either higher or on the same level that he is in the hierarchy.
