‘2D’ actually stands for ‘Two-dimension’. The two dimensions of a square are length and breadth, thus the name, ‘2D’ shapes. ‘2D’ shapes have an area which is length times breadth, since those are the only sides/dimension that they have. ‘3D’ shapes have volume, which is how much it can contain. The only difference between ‘2D’ and ‘3D’ shapes is that ‘3D’ shapes have ‘DEPTH’ as well.
By the way, volume/area never changes. That is called WEIGHT.

Shapes like squares and rectangles are ‘2D’ shapes.

2d stands for 2 dimension, length and breadth where as 3D shapes have 3 dimensions, length, width and height. Some 2d shapes are the square, the triangl, the rectangle and the circle. It is actually impossible to find a 2d object on planet earth. Everything is 3D, even a drawing on paper still has length width and height.
Some examples of 2d shapes are the squares, triangles, rectangles, circles, octagons, hectagons, pentagons and so many more.

Patterns are actually a line of numbers, each either decreasing or increasing. Patterns could also be a repetitive type of numbers, decorations or other things.

What are patterns for?
Patterns are to predict something coming, like the next number, predictable by similar changes like adding 2 continuously. You can also use patterns to try and fool your friends and family.

Algebra is different though. In algebra we use letters to represent numbers. a + b = b + a Is an algebraic equation, which means “no matter what order you place the numbers in, the sum will be the same”. Finally and most importantly, we can use algebra to solve problems.

You can use algebra to represent all the different equations that are equivalent to the mathematical rule, like how c + d = d + c means “when adding two numbers together, it does not matter which number is added to which; the result is the same”.
