The working class consisted mostly of immigrants, women, children, and factory workers. A majority of these people worked in terrible working conditions where they faced severe dangers without safety measures. This took place in the 19th and 20th centuries in urbanized cities like Pittsburgh or New York City. The reason people worked in these places is due to the industrialization and mass production for companies. The working class worked in crowded and packed places where they worked low hours with low wages. The impact of this was reforms and a work on safety and security for workplaces.

The middle class Americans and major consumerism stores had higher wages and goods which pushed the economy to have higher consumerism. This took place in the 19th and 20th centuries across urbanized places in the United States since mass production made goods cheaper and wide-spread plus department stores and advertisement made it easier to buy goods. The impact of this was that the labor demand increased and changed living standards.

The Panic of 1873 started in 1873 in Europe and the United States because of too many investments in railroads and bank collapses. There was an economic depression due to financial issues where banks and railroads were affected. This occurred due to the stock markets failure and panic. The impact of this is that the workers had worse working conditions due to the economic depression.

In the 1900s, in the factories in America, Frederick W. Taylor created a theory called Taylorism of managing workspaces to have optimum productivity and a standard. This system broke work into smaller tasks and impacted factories by making factories efficient but didn’t provide the workers with a favorable outcome since they had to work like machines.
