They became a poor trailer family struggling to get a job. Isabel is the youngest member of the family. She does not like poor people food like asparagus, and wants to be Queen of May at her school. They are not equal since this is the 1930's and they are Mexicans, so they can only swim the afternoon before they clean the pool. Now Miguel lost his job and they think they might starve because some people from Oklahoma TOOK HIS JOB by working for less.
