Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) implants have been around since the first ICD was placed in 1980. With the current advancement in current technology, Abbot has now upgraded these devices with bluetooth allowing for effective communication from the device to both the patient and the practitioner. Information is transferred from the device to a readily accessible app through both android and IOS app stores increasing important communication between all stakeholders.

Cardiac disease has been an ongoing issue since the beginning of time. From such events as ventricular arrhythmias to congestive heart failure due to left ventricular hypertrophy, ICD's and CRT-D's have been used for corrective and supportive measures. Recent medical advancements have made it easier for identification and treatment of these cardiac problems. What better use for technology to make it easier for all stakeholders to take part in the identification and treatments of these cardiac events. With the ability to use a simple app on ones smartphone, a patient can potentially save themselves from a trip to either the emergency room or to the doctors office in order to read what was captured on the device. "Used in conjunction with a mobile app, these connected devices are allowing patients greater insight into the data their doctor sees". (Cleveland Clinic, 2021) Just imagine, by a simple click on their phone, a patient can have assess to their own device and therefore able to contact their electrophysiologist or cardiologist directly and review their information in real time. This increase in patient-physician engagement leads to greater adherence to treatments plans set forth by providers, which then leads to greater benefits for the patient. “The FDA’s approval of Abbott’s Gallant devices enables doctors to provide a more collaborative approach to treatment plans and the increased bond between a patient and provider will lead to better outcomes for all”. Building an effective team takes a lot skill and practice. With my number one strength being an activator, being a hard worker is at the forefront. After careful thought, you would be led to believe that it would be best to have other team members that have some similar qualities and strengths that the leader has, but upon further review, to have a strong team, you have to have different viewpoints from other stakeholders. The teams members would include Cindy (connectedness), Daniel (discipline), Louis (learner), Pablo (positivity), and William (woo). Cindy would be great as she would bring faith to the team. Faith is needed for the team to believe in the project and see the end goal. Another key to an effective team would be structure and routine, which Daniel, with the strength of discipline would help with keeping the team on together and track. In any cohesive and successful team, there must always be the desire to learn and grow, and Louis would bring this in spades. What would a team be without enthusiasm and positivity along the way, Pablo would be a great addition for these qualities alone. And last but not least, every team needs someone who is a people oriented person to help bring the team together and this is where William, as a Woo, would be a tremendous fit. Together, all of these members bring important qualities needed for trust and cohesion within the group and will lead to great success at both the individual and team levels.
