         <title>Lesson 1 - Payment Methods</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Expectation: </strong><br><strong>F1.1 </strong>describe the advantages and disadvantages of various methods of payment that can be used to purchase goods and services<br><br><strong>Minds on: </strong><br>Have students think about the last time they purchased something. Was it a good or service? How did they pay for it? As a class, brainstorm the different ways that you can pay for something.<br><strong>Assessment: Take note of what students know about payment methods</strong><br><br><strong>Action: </strong><br>In pairs, create an informational poster about one method of payment to share with the class. Poster can be completed online or on paper. Online tools: Canva, Piktochart <br><strong>Assessment: Co-create success criteria, descriptive feedback from teacher.&nbsp;</strong></div><div><br><strong>Gallery Walk:</strong><br>Discuss each others posters. Facilitate a discussion around why do we need to know our options for paying?<br><strong>Assessment: Students explain their thinking, justify their answers/strategies. </strong><br><br><strong>Show What You Know: <br></strong>Pose a question around purchasing goods, ask students to decided what would be a good way to pay for that item. <br><strong>Assessment: Determine if student can understand that there are some methods that will make more sense than others. &nbsp;</strong></div><div><br><strong>Journal</strong><br>How do you prefer to pay for purchases?&nbsp; Why?<br><strong>Assessment: Student Reflection - Look for student reasoning rather than which payment method they chose.</strong></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

Ask them to write a paragraph or draw a picture of themselves in the future.&nbsp; <br><strong>Assessment: Consider if students can think of a financial goal.</strong><br><br><strong>Action: </strong><br>Instruct students to pick one financial goal and make a plan to reach it that goal. Have students conference with peers and give each other feedback and suggestions for improvements.<br><strong>Assessment: Co-create expectations, peer feedback, descriptive feedback from teacher.&nbsp;</strong></div><div><br><strong>Consolidation: </strong><br>Facilitate a discussion around peer sharing.          <title>Lesson 3 - Moving Money </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Expectation:</strong><br><strong>F1.5 </strong>describe trading, lending, borrowing, and donating as different ways to distribute financial and other resources among individuals and organizations<br><br><strong>Minds On: </strong><br>Show the students the following words: Lend - Borrow - Trade - Donate. Think/Pair/Share the meaning of the words. Then, together create definitions to match the words. <br><strong>Assessment: Gauge if students can connect to and understand the terms.<br></strong><br><strong>Action: <br></strong>Jigsaw Activity; Create home groups and and give each student in a group a role of earner-trader-donor-borrower-lender. Divide students into expert groups and brainstorm arguments to convince others that their money concept is the smartest option. Now in their home groups, pose a question that will encourage them to develop a skit. <br><strong>Assessment: Group conversations, skit performance, descriptive feedback from teacher. </strong><br><br><strong>Consolidation:</strong><br>Talk through the reasons for each money decision.<br><strong>Assessment: Students explain their thinking, justify their answers/strategies. </strong><br><br><strong>Show What You Know: </strong><br>Pose a question that provides student with the opportunity to explain what they would do if they earned X amount of money and their reasoning. <br><strong>Assessment: Determine if students can provide a reason for their decision.&nbsp;</strong></div><div><br><strong>Journal: </strong><br>Some advantages and disadvantages for borrowing money are...<br><strong>Assessment: Student reflection - Understanding that borrowing money isn’t always good or bad.
