As we're going for a salon style hang in Copeland, you'll have only a few images on display, so the portfolio boxes are a good opportunity to showcase a wider range of your work and we highly recommend everyone makes one. For those who've signed up to have portfolio reviews it will also mean you can just grab your box off the shelf and won't need to lug a portfolio with you to London.

This will have your name on the spine of the box and a QR code that links to your personalised section on the Orbit website. (We will print these)

We also recommend a printed image from your project on the front of the box to make it more easily identifiable.

What should I include in my portfolio?:

(This is just some advice pulled off the web, but may be helpful for those who haven't made a creative portfolio before)

An art portfolio shouldn’t simply be a collection of everything you’ve ever created. In fact, it’s best to limit your portfolio to 20–25 pages. When putting it together, think about including:

• Your best pieces and work you’re most proud of

• Pieces that show your interests, personality and style

• Pieces that show the breadth of your skills 

• Collections of pieces that have a unified theme 

• Spreads that show your creative process

• A brief statement about your work or short explanations that accompany individual projects

This is not mandatory but will help get your name into the pockets of potential clients.

The only thing that needs to be uniform is the sizing:

85mm length x 55mm height and the rest is up to you.

Please include:

You will need to organise the printing of your own business cards.

When they're ready please leave in the submission room alongside the portfolio boxes.

If you haven't booked accommodation for London yet please have this sorted as soon as possible as of course we'll be bringing the house down. We'd suggest a group booking of AIRBNB's to keep costs at a minimum but of course, we understand individuals situations regarding money, so if you can help please bare that in mind.

These slots can be booked by multiple people so if you'd like to invidulate as a group please enter all of your names.

Again we'd like everyone to take part in the take down on Sunday as this is a group effort and as many people's help is greatly appreciated. Of course, we understand that we don't all live in London but the help is necessary.

Portfolio walk: Between 2.30pm until 3pm (students lay out their work and reviewers wander round and see other work / speak to students that they didn’t see during the reviews)

Guest Speaker Talk: 3:30pm until 5pm

Private view: Starts at 5:30pm

Your images need to be in a specific format to get the best results in terms of quality and for curators to be able to make a solid wall plan ASAP.

Upload requirements:

• Resize to whatever you want bearing in mind that the maximum is 2 A2 or 1 A1. (e.g. could have 6 A4 images instead)

• TIFF format

• MAXIMUM 300 DPI

• RGB

• File names should include project title, first name and surname and size to be printed like this _ProjectTitle_FirstLast_1xA1_

I've found that if you're booking in groups of 4-6 it should be around £120 all in.

And for hostels, I've found an 8 bed that costs £46 a head.

If you're making a photobook please leave it labelled with your name in 2B18 in the box labelled photobooks/portfolios by the 30th May.

Figure out:

1) make a spreadsheet with each person sellings' name, items to be sold and prices

2) How will things be displayed?

3) How will payments be taken? (easiest to use Zettle machine, have an invigilator in that space and a clear price list. Sales can be written down and go into Orbit account then be paid back to people after) 

4) Set deadline and location for people to drop off items to be taken to London

5) Confirm a ROTA to man the shop
