How do we keep Destiny from timing out and forcing people to login again?

At the very top of the page at Back Office > Access Levels, you set the time for Destiny to remain active without having to log back in. This can be different for each Access Level.

This sounds like something in the way the databases are linked to your site. I would recommend calling your tech people and customer support to trouble shoot.

Will the ebooks section show all ebooks or just Follett's ebooks?

All e-books - Follett e-books will be in blue, the others will be in green. The Follett notebook only works for Follett e-books.

This needs to be configured in Catalog> Search Set up> Digital
You will need the URL, a username and password that is unique for that URL. You can get this from tech support.

I have my subscription db's set up in classic one search. Each was set up with username and password and tested to ensure connection. On campus, we are ip authenticated so there is no problems with access. Once off campus, the database links, in classic and discover, are asking for username and password. Is this the norm or should I instruct the students to have the username and password handy for off campus access?

Check that you are on 15.0 and that you have Collections selected in the set up and access level

Also, on the "hamburger"> General Setup check to see what is selected for Collections Policies

How do I get my databases to populate a ribbon? My one search is set up.

Make sure Search One Search is turned on in Back Office> Access Levels> Library Materials

You will have to check this for each access level

Keyword searches search the 600's for subjects, as well as the series fields, notes fields, title fields and author fields

How do we get the Export to Easy Bib button on the cite section

It’s disabled by default - external site with ads. The Destiny Admin needs to go to the District page, and then click the Edit icon in the top row. The Edit page has the option, “Allow Destiny Discover users to export citations to EasyBib.”

Each campus with a separte collection will have its own digital shelf. Often shelves have been created, but nobody at the district or campus level has integrated them. If she calls tech support she can either get the information to integrate (shelf URL, username and password) or request that one be set up.

What is the difference between Destiny Quest and Destiny Disc

Destiny Quest was the first stab that Destiny took at making the catalog more geared to the digital native. It appealed more to elementary students. Now Discover is attempting to roll the best features of Quest and Destiny Classic into an interface that supports the Digital Natives and promotes full access to digital features as well as the print collection.

I set my Collection to Public several times, logged out and logged back in... But it is still private.

Private just means that you own it. It will still be in your Private folder , even if the access is Public. Take a look from another login and you should see it in the Public section. Anything YOU create will be in YOUR Private folder.

I keep seeing all books in district, not just my collection

Check Back Office> Access Levels> Library Materials to see what is selected under Destiny Search. There are 2 boxes that need to be unchecked to restrict your view to your library (Search All Library Sites, Always Show All Materials in District

If books were added before curriculum tags were available, is there a way to add them to those books?

I spoke with someone at tech support and was told that the curriculum tags will populate with the book record as long as the ISBN matches what is in Destiny, regardless of when and where the book was purchased, cataloged, etc. It is NOT a field in the MARC record, but just part of the programming in Destiny Discover 15.0. However, searching by curriculum tags must be allowed in Back Office> Access Levels> Specific Access Level Type> Library Materials> select under the section on searching Destiny Discover. Remember that to search the tags, you have to be in Destiny Discover and use the drop down in the search box and scroll all the way down to find tags. Click on tags and then type the tag you are looking for.

Creating a category- how to populate? ie Mo Willems folder in the Favorite author

After you add the folder "Favorite Author", click on the globe and add "Mo Willems" as a search topic. Scroll down and complete the Power Search for books with "Mo Willems" as the author and save. You could also add a link to his author site here and turn on One Search, at the bottom of the screen, if desired.

A sublocation is an area that you are housing an item, example - a section of the library, tech closet, etc. A copy category is way you can group resources for different reasons - such as batch edits, printing, etc. This can also be searchable

Is there an easy way to upload teacher email / passwords?

The best answer is some type of Pat Import for your teachers - not sure if that is possible with your district. Unfortunately, because the criteria are different, a Batch edit won't work. You could give teachers the ability to set up their own username and password in Back Office> Access Levels> and then whatever access level you have them assigned. You would still need to add the e-mail.

Overdue notices

Is there a way to email overdue notices instead of printing out?

Reports> Library Reports> Circulation (Current Checkouts and Fines) - select notices and then select e-mail. You can choose up to 5 e-mails but these e-mails must be part of the patron record. To check, look at a student's record and see if e-mails are importing from your Student Information System.

deleting unknown e-books
