What is considered witchcraft was practiced in Scotland, 700 BCE by The Celts of Northern Europe who were deeply spiritual people and established the 'Druids' which were Celtic priests. The trials ran from 1590-1592 and accused 70 people from Southern Scotland, including 7 Noble men. After King James' bride from Denmark could not travel overseas due to harsh weather, James' suspected witchcraft. Around that time a young maid named Gilly was accused of witchcraft and after heavy torture confessed and named other witches. Eleven year old Christian Shaw, the laird's daughter was found ill and deemed possessed according to the local doctors.
