Law school can get incredibly hectic and at first, it was easy to get swept away with all the deadlines and pressure to do my best in all of my subjects. Thank you for teaching me to take every day one minute at a time.

A good lawyer is a good human first. I learned that from you, ma'am. Thank you for being kind and teaching us the importance of taking a breathe and to remember that we are humans that need breaks. I really enjoyed our readings for the semester. Thank you too for showing us the importance of standing up for what we believe in and to do our own research before choosing a side and sticking with it.

I learned the importance of listening to my body.

No one can function properly if one gets tired or exhausted. Sleep or just a simple rest would compensate all the tiredness that one experiences after a hectic day. With your class and the meditation we do in class, I get to relax few minutes even if we have class after yours. It made me realize that focusing on school works is not everything because no one can do their best if they do not take care of their body and mental health.

I learned about taking a step back.

I learned to see the value of slowing down and to live in the present. Law school can be very fast paced and you allowed us to take a moment to breathe and reflect on why we do what we do. I felt like this was a useful pitstop that allowed me to recharge in between our major subjects.

During our meditations, I would usually be reminded of things that are pushed out of my mind because of my constant struggle in law school. In several minutes that I am able to pause and be still, I realized a lot of things that fueled my desire to keep pushing and keep fighting. Thank you Ma'am and Happy holidays.

Thank you Ma'am for teaching us that being a lawyer is about being kind, compassionate, and open minded. It is not always about winning but it is about giving a voice for those who do not have one. Thank you also for showing us that even lawyers are multifaceted individuals! Thank you for also reminding us that it is important to take a step back and center our thoughts and our minds , and to protect our mental health above all else. Law school is definitely a very difficult and tough experience. Meditations in Ma'am Tanya's class have helped me stay calm throughout my first semester in law school. I learned the significance of taking time to breathe and ponder on your thoughts, letting out the bad energy, and taking in positivity. Indeed, we are very thankful for Ma'am Tanya's advice and valuable lessons.

Thank you, ma'am for giving us the opportunity of looking at the legal profession from the outside and inside, far and near, and high and low. And it was coupled with looking at ourselves too. All of these things helped and shaped our resolve as we journey to become future lawyers. This class has been empowering since it allowed us to discern and always become aware of the choices we make. I learned that being a good lawyer doesn't necessarily mean being part of a law firm.

Thank you Ma'am Tanya for making me realize that there is more to legal life outside the law firms. I had this notion before that a good lawyer must be part of a law firm; thank you for changing that particular assumption that I had. Being a good lawyer is a matter of choice. That choice could mean that one has to get out of a law firm, or conversely, it could also mean that he or she doesn't need to resign, as long as that person has the guts to challenge the norm in that law firm. But if he/she decides to step out of the firm life, I learned that it is not the end yet: there are a lot of other tracks and branches in the legal profession to choose (which you mentioned in the class). I learned about the goodness of lawyers

Early in the semester, you taught us that lawyers are inherently good and you showed it to us by setting a concrete example of how you live your life fighting for what is right and just.

It has been a fun first semester with you, Ma'am Tanya. Your effort in getting to know us by our first names at the beginning of the semester was very welcoming. In a world where some Profs make us feel like we do not belong to law school, your class is a breath of fresh air. We will forever remember you as our Professor with a heart. Thank you for calming us and for showing up in class even when you were somewhat sick or even when you were in a farm! <3

Through this class I have learned that being a lawyer is not only a privilege but a responsibility. I have also learned that you must always remember to take a rest and appreciate how far you have come. I have also realized that law school should not always be about work but you should have fun too.

Thank you Ma'am Tanya for this class it made me appreciate the legal profession more and made me want to keep going even though I wanted to give up already. I was able to realize that law shouldn't just be all work and no play but that you should do what makes you happy and makes you enjoy life more.

To take a step back every day, assess your self and life, where you are and where you wanna go. But also to take a step back, rest, breathe, and let things go. With how fast time is people tend to forget how to take a break and give oneself the time to recover and just rest. This class made me realize how important it is to do just that,
