This saves time for staff and the patient. Treatment is not delayed because the PICC line has not been deemed as safe to use (Barton, 2016). This technology allows the professional inserting the PICC to know immediately if it is drifting to the wrong area and if optimum tip placement is achieved. Because of this immediate knowledge, the patient is able to avoid multiple attempts at correct positioning, which may include multiple sticks, and delay of care. In my opinion, 3CG Sherlock Tip Confirmation System is a current innovation that improves delivery of patient care and increases patient satisfaction.
