In this moment, Jack is scared to let go of his civilization and he doesn't kill the pig because he is fearful of the blood and gruesomeness of the act. 
The pop song "Just Like Fire" by Pink (2016) connects to this theme. "The song begins with the idea of wanting it all, running out of time, and being surrounded by people who are less." -Mrs. Bain. Jack believes that he is surrounded by people who are less than him. He wants to rule those on the island, but can't bring himself to take the power. Jack is walking a line between what he was once was and what he desires. In the moment, he feels time opportunity passing him by. Pink's words,
 "I know that I'm running out of time 
I want it all, mmm-mmm 
And I'm wishing they'd stop tryna turn me off 
I want it all, mmm-mmm 
And I'm walking on a wire, trying to go higher 
Feels like I'm surrounded by clowns and liars
Even when I get it all the way I want it all, mmm-mmm"  depict these feelings.  
Another example from "Just Like Fire" are the lyrics,
 "So look, I came here to run it 
Just 'cause nobody's done it 
Y'all don't think I can run it 
But look, I've been here, I've done it Impossible? 
Please Watch, I do it with ease 
You just gotta believe", these lyrics reflect a change in Jack's feelings as he is unable to kill the pig. "Then it moves into the idea of insisting on being in charge, even though it hasn't happened as planned, and there is judgement that it can't/won't happen, but a promise of action" -Mrs. Bain. Jack wants to be in charge but it hasn't gone as he planned. This moment in the text is when Jack kills his first pig, this is where he starts his transition from civilized to savage and the "beast" inside of him starts to show. The pop song "Mastermind" by Taylor swift (2022) relates to this theme. This song depicts a person who may have failed the first time and now has a plan that can't fail.
Taylor says, "And the touch of a hand lit the fuse 
Of a chain reaction of countermoves 
To assess the equation of you
Checkmate, I couldn't lose". These lyrics relate to how Jack came up with a plan after he failed at killing the pig the first time and vowed to himself that he wouldn't fail again, he "couldn't lose". To ensure he wouldn't lose he also used a series of countermoves to beat the pig in the "game" of hunting. 
Another example from "Mastermind" are the lyrics, 
"And the first night that you saw me, nothing was gonna stop me?" 
and "What if I told you I'm a mastermind?
And now you're mine" both can relate to the steps Jack takes to ensure that the pig doesn't get away. 'But you like it!' shouted Ralph. “You want to hunt! While I—'” (Golding 75) This part of the text is the major turning point for Jack from civilized to savage. He is now obsessed with hunting and getting meat, he is becoming blood hungry and is starting to not be able to control it. He is neglecting his other duty's because he craves hunting.  
The electropop song, "Not My Responsibility" by Billie Eilish (2021) correlates with this theme. 
Billie sings,"You have opinions 
About my opinions" and "And nothing I do goes unseen 
So while I feel your stares 
Your disapproval ". These lyrics are representative of this moment because Jack is obsessed with hunting, he believes that it is his only responsibility. Ralph disagrees with him and believes that he should have other responsibilities. Jacks actions show that he thinks he should have no other responsibility. They argue about it and Ralph doesn't approve but Jacks doesn't need his approval. 'I’m not going to be a part of Ralph’s lot—' He looked along the right-hand logs, numbering the hunters that had been a choir. 'I’m going off by myself. He can catch his own pigs.'" (Golding 89). In this excerpt from the text, Jack is getting fed up with Ralph telling him that he can't act on his urge to hunt because he has to help with the other tasks. This makes Jack angry so he decides that he is going to go off and make his own tribe. His new tribe will focus on killing and hunting for food and pleasure. He doesn't care who comes with him as long as he is in charge and he gets to hunt. This is a great example of how Jack is letting the savagery and blood lust get to him and he makes decisions based on these factors. 
The pop song "Look What You Made Me Do" by Taylor Swift (2017) relates to this theme. 
 In Taylor's words "The role you made me play of the fool" and "They (they) once belonged to me (me)". These lyrics can be connected to how Jack wanted to be in charge of his own fate but he couldn't be because Ralph had already taken control. Jack views that Ralph "took" the Choir from him and he is not happy about it so Jack left. 
Another example from this piece are these lyrics,
"But I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time. 
Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time. 
I got a list of names, and yours is in red, underlined. 
I check it once, then I check it twice, oh!" The lyrics connect to the person Jack is right now because he got "smarter" and better at killing. He is "harder" in the sense that the gruesomeness of killing doesn't bother him anymore, he even enjoys it now, it is starting to become a source of release for him. ]]> 2023-04-27 15:12:29 UTC https://padlet.com/lucertar000/66fladz39alqs7jt/wish/2570546050 Animals (5) lucertar000 https://padlet.com/lucertar000/66fladz39alqs7jt/wish/2570689215 After they stab the mother pig and she runs away; Jack shows a skill that he has developed through his transition to savagery, "Then he said nothing for a time but breathed fiercely so that they were awed by him and looked at each other in uneasy admiration. Presently he stabbed down at the ground with his finger." (Golding, 193). He is using his skills of tracking (which is inherently a predatory animal skill) to find where the pig went. Shortly after this they find the pig and in almost a sexual way Jack leads the group to preform a ritual like killing. They will later name this ritual type killing their "dance". 
The pop song "Animals" by Maroon 5 (2015) can relate to the theme of transitioning to full savagery. 
The band says, "I'm preying on you tonight 
Hunt you down eat you alive 
Just like animals Animals Like animals-mals" These lyrics are very reminiscent of Jack's new savage instincts he is turning into an wild animal with a urge to kill that can't be repressed. 
Another example from this piece are the lyrics,
 "I can smell your scent for miles", Jack has started to use his instincts, such as tracking by scent, to find the pigs. 
There is also sexual innuendos in this song that could be related to the sexual release that Jack gets from hunting and killing the pigs as well as other entities.

Come on! Dance'" (Golding 193). Jack says as the blood lust and savagery takes him over. Jack has renamed the act of killing to their "dance" because it is a ritual to him. At this moment Jack has convinced the other boys that Simon is not himself and that he is the beast. In this haze the boys kill "the beast" under Jacks direction. The pop song "All I Need" by Radiohead (2007).
Radiohead says, "You are all I need You're all I need", 
"I'm an animal", and "I only stick with you Because there are no others". Represent this idea because that is now how Jack feels about hunting. He believes it is all he needs. It is life and blood for him.
Jack is the predator and until now the pigs have been his prey but now it is Simon because Jack convinced everyone that it was the beast they were killing.
