There are numerous types of meditation, as well as countless misconceptions about them. At its core, meditation is about diverting your attention away from the mental noise of everyday life. This could include concentrating on your breath, mentally repeating a phrase, or simply focusing your thoughts on the present moment. While the practice may appear insignificant, the results can be enormous. Mindful meditation has been shown in studies to help reduce anxiety, depression, and psychological pain. Furthermore, mindful meditation has been shown to improve general mood, sleep, cognition, and other areas.
