  • i. The making of the cotton shirt is a long process. From cotton bolls, cotton is usually picked up from the plants in the fields by hand.
  • ii. And then fibre are separated from the seeds by combing. This process is called ginning.
  • iii. After this, the fibre of cotton are drawn out and twisted it then this brings the fibre together and a long thread is formed called yarn. This process is called spinning.
  • iv. And then in weaving process, cotton fabric is made by arranging two sets of cotton yarns. The weaving process is done on looms.
  • v. Now on sewing this cotton fabric by needle on sewing machine we get the cotton shirt.

    The journey of a cotton shirt starting from cotton bolls is as follows:                                                                                                  1) Picking: The seeds covered with cotton fibers are handpicked from the cotton bolls from the fields.
    2) Ginning: It is the process in which seeds are separated from fibers by combing.
    3) Spinning: fibers are drawn out from cotton wool and twisted. This brings the fibers together to make a strong yarn.
    4) Weaving and knitting: There are two methods of converting cotton yarn into the cotton fabric i.e by weaving and knitting. A cotton shirt is usually made by weaving so in weaving, two sets of yarns are arranged together to make a fabric.
    5) Stitching: The cotton fabric is then stitched into the cotton shirt.
