The reason I chose this topic was because I myself am a black teenager and I see a lot of things that others don't. I also see how people portray me to be and a lot of the time I notice stereotypes that have been abused so much they have basically become reality. I think it's something that is very overlooked and is a lot more complex than most think. Most people just form their own opinions based on what they've seen and heard and that's just human nature, but a lot of what the world thinks are the reasons that black teenagers (and black people in general) do the things they do are in fact not the actual reasons at all. These things have impacted my life a lot because I have thought about it constantly. What other people think. What other people are going to think. What I have failed to realize is that if I know why I'm doing, then other people's opinions shouldn't matter.
