Man ser som det første Jesus hænge på korset med skriften INRI (latinsk betyder, Jesu fra Nazarat jødernes konge, dette er ironisk ment, da man ikke troede at Jesus var jødernes konge) over sig og han har en tornekrans omkring hovedet. 
Han er meget tynd og bløder fra hænder og fødder, mens han ser meget lidende ud.
Bag ham hænger to andre mænd på to kors. De har længere hår end Jesus og de er mere mørke og sorte i det, og det virker som om de måske er helt døde.  
Farverne minder om en sen aften/nat. 
  • I forhold til beskæring, så mangler der noget af den yderste siddende mand, og den kvinde i den hvide kjole, hvilket var et trick for at få dem der ser på billedet til at blive frustreret.
