I learnt about weeding and that it can be used to feed animals instead of throwing them away. I also learnt that we can plant plants and produce our own fruits and vegetables, which reduces carbon footprint

I planted seeds and cleared weed. I was not able to differentiate what is weed and what is not, and I had some trouble clearing the weed.

The Internship made me learn more about sustainability, by showing us that we could make produce in the garden, and I plan to grow my own fruits and vegetables to eat.

The HUT educates the children on sustainability and the 3Rs, and teaches them know about how to recycle items. This was evident as I was pleasantly surprised when they said they knew what recycling is and what the 3Rs were ,keeping in mind that they were from ages 5-7.

I contributed to the organization by teaching the children there about upcycling. For example, how you could turn an ordinary plastic bottle to a water gun. It was a really fun experience for both myself and the children there. 1 challenge I faced was getting the children's attention. As if I was too "boring", they would drift off and not pay attention. However, by countering this, I would not only be more lively with my words, but speak more clearly so they would understand better.

It gave me a better understanding that sustainability is possible anywhere if you look and find hard enough. I plan to apply it by teaching my future possible colleagues the many possible ways they could upcycle and apply the 3Rs.

From the workshop, I was able to learn what type of items can be reused to make other products. I was also able to learn how to make those products. It gave me a better understanding of sustainability.

I participated in an event that is mainly about sustainability. One of the problems I faced is that people do not understand why they need to be more sustainable.

I know more about sustainability now and I can introduce it to my families and friends so they can also be more sustainable like me.

My internship experience greatly enhanced my understanding of sustainability practices through the hands-on work and the engaging programs. I could really feel how much the organisation tries to push the idea of sustainability and spread it to the public. Whether it be simply recycling waste product, upcycling, or many more. A specific strategy which I could effectively observe was how they tried to get people to dive into the problems of climate change, global warming, etcetera and then linking it back to sustainability practices. Through this, people could get inspired, change their habits and a job well done for the organisation.

I learnt how to better recycle unwanted products such as using unwanted banners to become a coin pouch

I contributed to helping others to understand more on how to recycle in more ways but i had challenges when some people made a fuss and cut me off at some point which was making me quite angry, but I still enjoyed the experience.

It influences my perspective on how important sustainability really is. I plan to apply the lessons learned to foster a habit of recycling if i have the chance to and reduce as much as i can

This workshop taught us many different ways on how to be sustainable and what we should do. For example, we were taught how to reuse things and upcycle them into other things. Eg: using our plastic water to make a pen holder etc

I told my friends and families what I did at the internship and told them how meaningful these workshops are. Whole promoting about these sustainable practices, My group met some aunties or uncles that wanted to take more food than what was given to them. This led us to reject them and some walked off with a angry face.

I realised that sustainability is much more important than what we think. As next time when we work outside, many papers will be used. I think it will be useful to not throw away too many papers. We can recycle them or reuse them for random scribbles.

This internship experience helped enhance my understanding of how we can be more sustainable and resourceful, such as using coconut husks as plant pots and used posters to make card holders. I was also able to learn how to make them through the hands on activities and manning an activity booth.

I learnt that being sustainable and recycling items is actually very easy if you have the right tools. I can make a lot of things with some plastic water bottles, hot glue guns and etc. For example, I can make a watering can out of a plastic water bottle.

I researched a lot with my team members and we tried our best to teach the children on easy and safe ways to be sustainable and practice the three R’s. We also taught them why it’s important to care for the Earth by doing these things. One challenge I encountered was when the students did not understand us and we had to come up with ways to explain to them in simpler terms on the spot.

This internship has influenced me to not only start to be sustainable but also teach me everyone around me ways to do so and the reasons why. I understand it a lot more now and I can now apply my learning at home and to teach to more people.

My internship experience enhanced my understanding of sustainability practices around the organisation by teaching me how much more sustainable our city could be if we grew our own fruits, vegetables, etc.  I also learnt that I can use leftover foods to fertilise the plants instead of throwing it away. I also learnt that weeds that are “enemies” in the garden can be fed to chickens instead of throwing them away. Some specific things I learnt these examples from was when the gardeners allowed us to help pick weeds from the garden to feed the chickens on our own! It was an enriching and also fun experience. I also saw with my own eyes tubs of leftover fruits that were going to be used as fertiliser for the plants!

Reflecting on my role during the internship, I remember when I was tasked to feed the chickens and also water the plants. I tried to make use of as little water as possible so for one I don’t waste any water, and also save resources. This contributes to sustainability goals. Some challenges I faced when participating in the gardening activity was I had a hard time differentiating weeds from the rest of the greenery. Luckily, the gardeners were very open to questions and helping us. Thanks to their clarification, in the end, I managed to spot the weeds from the greenery! Just in case I fed the chickens the wrong thing.

My internship influenced by perspective on sustainability and its importance by showing me how many ways there can be to live a sustainable lifestyle. In the future, before I throw anything away or waste anything, I will wonder about ways that I can save it to promote sustainability. For instance, the 3Rs! If I want to throw a plastic bottle away, I can recycle it or reuse it. This helps to reduce waste.

My internship experience allowed me to learn what the organisation do to educate the children and play a part for the environment, how the organisation conduct sustainability practises, such as collecting unwanted toys to reuse and recycle for the children to play, and organising workshops for us to teach the children through hands on activities for them to learn more about sustainability . I learnt that sustainability can be used and practiced on various scales such as in organisations. The practises that the organisation proactive allow the children to interact while learning about sustainability, while at the same time it is good for the environment and makes sure that children of different background have equal opportunities to gain the necessary knowledge, thus ensuring inclusivity in the economic aspect.

I contributed by educating the children about sustainability and guiding them in hands on actives to learn more about sustainability and the 3Rs, which aligns to the organisation’s goals to provide adequate resources for children to an important topic that would be useful for them when they grow up, especially children from less privileged families.Some challenges that I encounter is when the children do not understand our sharing and need more time to complete the activities. I am also not sure whether they fully understood our teaching and whether they would be able to implement sustainability practices accurately and confidently in the future.

The internship influenced my perspective by allowing me to realise that sustainability practices can be done in many ways and in different settings as well as gain more knowledge about sustainability that i can utilise in my future career. It also allowed me to have an experience of teaching it, leading in front of a group of children and in my future career, i would have more confidence to present my ideas clearly to my colleagues. I would have a clearer idea of how organisations can plan out sustainability practises and be able to propose the ideas in the future. I would have a better idea of how to teach and plan out activities for children on different scales, and lead for a change in sustainability on larger scales such as in a community. I can also think of new sustainability technologies and new equipments that will enhance sustainability and technology development together for the economy’s growth.
