Surakarta Town is one of the most famous districts in Indonesia, located in Central Java. This town is in the middle between Karanganyar, Sukoharjo, Klaten, Boyolali, and Sragen districts.

Surakarta Town has a population of 519,587 people (2019) and a density of 11,798.06/km2. This fact makes Surakarta Town the third largest city in the southern part of Java after Bandung and Malang according to population.

Surakarta Town is crossed by a large and long river which is immortalized in a famous keroncong song by the late Gesang Martohartono, Bengawan Solo. Surakarta is the heir to the Mataram Sultanate together with Yogyakarta, which was split through theGiyanti Agreement in 1755. Even today, these two cities are still very thick with the nuances of the palace.

Surakarta Town is currently one of the cities covered by many people from all walks of life, because of its many historical tourist attractions, trade centers, and one of the cities with the most number of educational institutions and is well known in Indonesia.
