He's not a true military man and appears to be somewhere in the hierarchy of nobility as he has land that he will sell in order to "fill his purse" with money. (Which Iago eventually "bobs" for himself.) Roderigo is also very gullible and allows Iago to lead him on constantly. This character is mostly a static character, but has a tendency to be almost dynamic because he is slowly becoming more dissatisfied with Iago. By Act 4, scene 3, Roderigo is ready to give up on Desdemona and go back to Venice, but Iago persuades him to try one more time for Des, and so Roderigo agrees to help kill Cassio. In Act 5, Scene 1, when Roderigo ambushes Cassio, it all goes wrong; Roderigo fails to kill Cassio but is wounded BY Cassio. This changed when she defied her father to marry Othello this means that she will stand up for what she believes and isn’t the rule follower that we thought she was. She will then later on try to help Cassio but doesn’t think about what the consequences are for her action. She is too innocent to realize what this could look like to Othello and she doesn’t look like the innocent and loving wife that we thought. We also thought that she will never get mad or argue with Othello. This is proved wrong in the ending scene and every scene when she lost the handkerchief. She would get mad and yell at Othello and our whole thoughts on her changed. He then precedes to get called to war and once the war is over he has time with Desdemona. After this he starts to get manipulated by Iago and starts to lose confidence that Desdemona loves him. He spirals out of control with his love and doesn’t love his wife anymore. He then loses his mind and decides to kill Desdemona and this leads to him feeling bad after knowing that Iago did this.
