Learning from my Grandmother about her experience with technology she described a time where she said "There really wasn't any form of technology when it came to my childhood" She went onto describe how growing up she experienced life in the fullest by being present and not glued to screen. Days would look like kids running to their neighbors house to knock on the door before dinner time to ask if they could come out to play. Games so simple such as hopscotch and ring around the rosy were a classic and bonding way to stay connected before the rise of technology.

Movies, movies, and movies!

Continuing with my Grandmother being a young girl in the 1950's she states that the first time technology really had an impact on her was when she started going to the movies and watching silent and black and white films. In the 50's movies had become a new way to hang out with friends and a great place for dates. Movies brought in a huge crowd and created an infatuation with what some would describe back then as the "Hollywood Life". Movies then and now continue to have a huge impact on technology and society as a whole.

Typewriters are the new fad!

When asking about computers and what they used to stay connected my grandmother said she fell in love with her typewriter. When typewriters started to become popular it opened up a worm hole for imagination. This would be the first step before computers and eventually lead to the advancement's of technology. Many people would use typewriters as a form to stay connected by typing letters, many writers as well took this opportunity to express their thoughts to the world.

The explosion of social media

My mother describes when she realized that technology has truly swiped the nation. When facebook first got announced and released to the public she knew that this was going to be something big. A way to stay connected with friends, family, co workers all through the touch of social media app called facebook. This was a way for all generations to have something in common and something that connects them.

Moving on, and interviewing my mother when brought with the question of how has "Technology impacted your life?" She talks about how she remembers the release of the first iPod and how my sister begged her to get one. A very similar experience that many people within that generation experienced. When the iPods first came out they created a new product that cultivated society, with the iPod it gave you access to music, games, cameras and much more. A new pathway into what society was being formed into!

When asking about how technology has impacted society to the younger generation they answer with the response of that it is a way to learn. Technology has paved a way for kids and even adults to stay educated whether that be from learning something off the internet or having a teacher use a form of technology such as a smart board to help further learning. Smart boards have become the new white board now that technology has taken over, majority of classrooms now within the U.S have them. Having access to technology is a way for society to keep advancing.

Tablets over toys?

Kids in this modern society now have become accustomed to technology in their daily lives. When interviewing the younger generation they talk about how their lives ARE technology. They state that tablets have everything they need on them to have fun, such as games, books, videos, music and so much more. Technology has become a basic norm for the younger generation, talking about how even their school work as migrated over to technology with apps such as Iready, IXL and math games such as Reflex. All which can be accessed through a tablet or smartphone.
