Each week my students learned a song/poem. We added them to their "Song and Poem" book - "if you can sing it, you can read it." They kept their Song and Poem books in their book boxes. We used the songs during transitions, to help regulate, to help curb conversation, etc. When reading, we identified heart words, sounds, rhymes, etc.

Create iReady targets/goals for your class

This teacher adds up how many lessons the class has passed all together each week. Then they add that number to the previous week's total, to create their new goal.

So for this example, the 203 is the total number of lessons that the class had passed to date and the class decides on a reasonable goal for the next week. The 350 was their reasonable goal for the new week. When the class passes the 350 lesson goal they receive a gold star bead to their bead lanyards. This practice also allows the class to engage in the math standard of Adding within 1,000 each week in a fun way.

Students receive a bead to add to their lanyard for each individual lesson they pass. This allows them to work individually on their path skills. They also receive a special "gold" bead if the class reaches their overall passed lesson goal for the week.

This is an example of a large poster a teacher made with grid lines in it for students to put their initials in when they pass a lesson in iReady. When the image has all the boxes of the grid within the image filled, they earn a class reward.
