The trip to get to LA was very long in my opinion but it was very fun. Once we got there we were all very excited. At first, I was very nervous to meet my host but she was very nice to me and she took me to get lunch. On the second day we went to In n Out to eat a burguer and it was really good! So far it was my favorite meal. My host family is really nice and they always make sure comfortable which I think is really important. The school is pretty big and something that surprised me was that each student has a different schedule and that on fridays they can wear any clothes they want if they pay a dollar. A memorable experience from the trip so far is when we went to Din Tai Fung, a chinese restaurant, with my host and her friend Ava and we had such a nice time!

The journey to Minneapolis, Minnesota, was long but enjoyable. We had a layover in Houston, but time passed quickly, probably because of the excitement of the trip. When we finally arrived, the first thing that hit me was the cold. Last Friday we tried an amazing burger at a restaurant, unfortunately, I can’t recall its name, but the taste definitely stayed with me. Surprisingly, I didn’t try anything too unusual. My host family was incredibly kind and welcoming. They really cared about us, which made me feel at home. The family consisted of the mom, her husband, and Nicho, their son. One thing that stood out to me was their eating schedule. They had meals much earlier than I was used to, and sometimes they didn’t even have dinner, which left me feeling a little hungry at night. Another interesting aspect of their home was how social it was there were always friends of Nicho coming over. The school, was located on Nicollet Island, which was already something unique. Unlike our school, it only had high school students, but it was much bigger. What really shocked me, though, was how students chose their own classes instead of following a fixed schedule for each year. One funny moment happened while Tincho and I were at a shopping mall. We were talking to a shop worker, and because of our accent, he assumed we were Russian.

The flight went by quickly,

all the personal In the plane were nice.

On the first day, with my friend Guada we tried Chipotle for the first time. This is a very famous store

where you can find burritos that are very big. The burrito was more spicy than what we had expected,

so we didn’t like it that much. I would rate it eight out of ten.

My host family is very nice, I can feel comfortable with them. They give me my own bedroom so I can

have my space if I want to call my mom, be alone, etc. On Sunday mornings they go to church, I think

that is a nice routine.

De La salle High School is bigger than our school in Argentina and it's different.

- The flight from Argentina felt super long and I was kind of nervous to meet new

people. Although I was nervous I was also really excited to meet the culture!

-I found the food here really good here but at the same time the portions are huge. My

favorite dish I ate since being here was the spicy chicken sandwich from “The

cheesecake factory”. Another thing that surprised me was that in the majority of the restaurants usually offer drink refills for free!

-My host family is the sweetest, they told me that they have already hosted a few

other exchange students and it shows because they treat me so well and make me

feel so comfortable. Also they are always suggesting places they can take me.

-The main difference I noticed was that the students are always changing classes and

classrooms. Also every student has a different schedule with different classes and

the classes are mixed with people of all ages (which for us is not common).

-One thing I love is that the school days are shorter because they end at 2.45pm and they

get an early day out every week. Lastly I noticed that they get an hour (or 30 min, it

depends on the day) of academic support where they can study and ask the teachers

for help or do homework which I think is really important.

-One thing that really shocked me is that here people have much more of an early

routine (they eat dinner at 5.30pm and they are in bed by 8.30pm) which in Argentina

is the opposite because we usually go to bed at 11.30pm

My first impression of the trip was very emotional and very happy because it was the first time I traveled alone and left the country. When I arrived in Minneapolis I was very excited to be able to meet my host and his family in person, who were the people who made me happiest in those days.

I really loved my host family, I always felt very accompanied and happy. They managed to make me feel like I was at home and the nicest thing I took was the friendship I could make with my host.

An unusual meal that my host's mom cooked for me but very tasty was the hotdish casserole. I would eat it a thousand times more, a combination of something soft for the filling but the top makes it crispy, and that made it very tasty

I liked the school, something different from ours is that each student could choose the subjects in which he wanted to be, they also had subjects that were called "study hall" and there you could advance tasks or pending things. Another different thing is that the teacher stayed in the classroom, it was the student who had to move and the classes were from 8am to 15pm, with a break in the morning of 20 minutes and another of 15 minutes in the afternoon and a lunch of 30 minutes. Regarding lunch, the food was free and if you wanted to add snacks or drinks you had to pay for it separately. Also, each cell phone had to be in the locker and the school gave each student a tablet for the whole year where they worked and did their homework at school and from their homes.

A very funny memory was when I went sliding in the snow with the friends of my host's brother, at first I was very scared, but it was super funny and I also went with them to the trampoline park which was super fun.

Finally, beyond what I have known from another culture and the different places or experiences I lived, something that I will never forget in my life is Ingrid, my host, a very good and sweet person, I felt that I connected a lot with her and she made me very happy at all times, I hope she does too. Her mom and her brother too, very good people and sweet, and of the whole trip, what I highlight most is my host family, and whenever I think of Minneapolis I will remember them, always very grateful
