So the skeletal system gives your body shape and it protects the organs and minerals example your ribs protect your lungs and heart, the bones of your vertebral column (spine) protect your spinal cord, and the bones of your cranium (skull) protect your brain our body is made out of 206 bones which make our body into shape the body bones join together by fibrous straps called ligaments which are a flexible, rubbery substance in our joints, supports bones and protects them where they rub against each other. Bones are made of connective tissue reinforced with calcium and specialised bone cells Bones are made up of a framework of a protein called collagen, with a mineral called calcium phosphate that makes the framework hard and strong Your skull protects the most important part of all, the brain. You can feel your skull by pushing on your head, spongy bone is located at the end of every long bone Bones also protect internal organs from injury by covering or surrounding them. For example, your ribs protect your lungs and heart, the bones of your vertebral column (spine) protect your spinal cord, and the bones of your cranium (skull) protect your brain

Bones protect your internal organs like the Ribcage protects the and lungs and heart. Skull protects the brain. The bones which run down your back are called The vertebrae. Bones have three layers.
