Gold mining is very sustainable because there are very few negitives compared to the many positives. The positives are: Gold mining can supply meaningful jobs to people. The gold also helps increase money in the economy and gives money to those who mine is. The negitive is that the minors that come are taking land to mine.

Summary

Overall, mining gold is not at all a sustainable practice. This is because both the society and the environment are negatively impacted. Since the gold miners are making a lot of money, the rest of the society is unable to meet their standards. Prices of living are skyrocketing for the citizens of Indonesia, who live near the gold mining open-pits. Not to mention, the environment isn't getting its fair share of the deal either. Gold miners dump the waste rocks into the Indonesian rain forests that the citizens so desire. Also, a chemical called cyanide is used to join the gold and silver that is mined out of the ore. The extremely toxic chemical can destroy streams, trees, and wildlife in the area. Mining gold this way may aid the economy, but open your eyes, people. This method of mining is not healthy or sustainable in the long run.
