During the Westward Expansion there was a group going west was named the Doner Party. They heard of a short cut that was supposedly safer and it would lead them faster to the west so they took it. They would then stocked as many supplies they could and get going. As they kept walking through the shortcut they were told about they realized they would have to cross some mountains. Some people from the group were unsure of this but the majority wanted to go so they went. They were starting to run low on supplies while crossing the dessert. Their wagons would get stuck and the Oxen were dying of hunger and thirst. As they finished crossing the desert a winter storm hit. They would then see they were stranded and built cabins. Small groups would try to cross and one group made but only 7 out of 17 survived. When the group arrived people would then try to rescue the rest. By time they arrived many people were dead and the people remaining had started to eat them. The Doner Party consisted of 87 people, out of those 87 people 46 survived and 41 died.

https://app.peardeck.com/student/tmbywyosj

The Industrial Revolution was when Europe and the U.S transitioned to a new way to manufacture. They used mills to make cotton. The mill companies usually hired only children and women. This was because they didn't need to pay them a lot of money and the women excepted these jobs because they saw it as economic freedom. Cities expanded because people would move to the city and leave their farm for job opportunities. Though this was good it would also lead to some problems. Slavery would increase and so would child labor. Many people would have to work way harder then they usually did. Since many cities would start to get more populated this meant that they were very dirty.

https://app.peardeck.com/student/thuezdybd

Something else that Samuel Morse also was an inverter that helped make the telegraph. The first message using Morse code was on May 24, 1844. It was sent from Washington, D.C to Baltimore.
My Questions for the Painting, The Way of Good & Evil

The painting, The Way of Good & Evil is a painting showing two paths, one being evil, and the other being good. With these paths there are also words around them describing what things you did or can do to get to the path you are in or soon will be in. This painting has made me wonder one big question. The question being, why aren't the paths connected? I wonder this because this means you can only go through one path which is true but what if you try to change your ways or habits to get to the correct path, will you still stay in the same path that you are in? If the paths can't connect does it means that you can't change path you are in but does that mean that you will need to go all the back to go to the path that you wanted to or does this mean that your fate has already been chosen since birth? I also wonder what were his thoughts while making this painting?

https://app.peardeck.com/student/tesspjnkj I also used google

I think this because slavery was wrong and people wanted freedom and equal rights. The white people are supposed to be laughing at the people of color thinking that they are superior to them. Then I doodle negative expressions on the Africans because they were angry, tired, and sad of being treated the way they were.

https://app.peardeck.com/student/tncyskduv

The founder of slavery was not a person but a region. Slavery started in Mesopotamia. When they're enemies were captured they were forced to work. This was around the time 6800 B.C. Then around the time 1526 some Spanish explorers brought the first African slaves to what soon would turn into the United States. Later on in 1641 Massachusetts would become the first ever British colony to allow slavery. In 1863 Abraham Lincoln frees slaves but he did not free all the slaves. He only freed the slaves that were seceded from the Union. The now most resent form of slavery would be forced labor in agriculture, manufacturing, construction, mining, fishing and other physical-labor industries, sex slavery, and forced marriage slavery.

I found all of this awesome information on a website called, Free The Slaves.
https://www.freetheslaves.net/about-slavery/slavery-in-history/
https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomlindsay/2019/08/30/after-all-didnt-america-invent-slavery/?sh=35f997a47ef6

The majority of the boys were killed or wounded during the battle. The youngest boys were usually drummers or messages. These boys being around the age of 10. The boys that were drummers were used to alert the soldiers or communicate to them. They would play different drum rolls if they needed to tell them something like "retreat".

The most common weapon during the Civil War was the Rifle. They were so popular because they were good and reliable guns and they were also easy to use. There were five different types of rifles used during the war. Rifles, short rifles, repeating rifles, rifle muskets, and cavalry carbines were the five different rifles. They each were unique and different from each other because each gun had it's purpose and they were fit for specific persons.Short rifles and cavalry carbines were very a like. The only difference was that cavalry carbines were made for people who would be on horseback. The guns average bullets to shoot were two to three per minute. After that you would need to reload.

This was the first land battle of the Civil War. It began when Union troops started to march to strike a Confederate force of 20,000 which happened to be in a place located along a small river named Bull Run. They fought almost for an entire day but then the rebels were able to go against McDowell's plan.
Why Was the Battle of Antietam so Bloody?

The Battle of Antietam was one of the battles fought during the Civil War. The battle started on September 17, 1862. There would be 23,00 men at least killed or wounded. The question is, why was the Battle of Antietam so bloody? The simple answer is because of the cornfield. Joseph Hooker said, "every stalk of corn in the northern and greater part of the field was cut as closely as could have been done with a knife, and the slain lay in rows precisely as they stood in their ranks a few moments before. It was never my fortune to witness a more bloody, dismal battlefield." This was because both south and the north were there. When they started to reach the south edge of the south part it is then when a large volley was unleashed. Both sides then would try gain upper hand both sides would also fail at this.

Frances Clayton also known as Frances Clalin was born on 1803. She was a women who changed her identity. She joined the fight of the Civil War. The name she would use would be Jack William. According to the American Battlefield Trust she did it because, "before the Civil War, Frances lived with her husband in Minnesota. When the fighting began, the couple set off to Missouri to enlist, hoping that enlisting a state away could help disguise Frances’s identity. Her husband enlisted under his real name, which has been recorded as “John” or Elmer” in different sources, and she donned the name “Jack Williams.” She and her husband joined and fought by each other but that would shortly end when her husband would be shot and killed. According to her, "Frances told reporters that she had to step over his corpse during the conflict." After this she was discharged from the army. "Even though she was injured three times during the eighteen battles she fought in, she notes that her identity was never reveled."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYCF8ALSYZw
https://www.battlefields.org/learn/biographies/frances-clayton
