The Japanese invaded the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines, and forcibly occupied this land in the Pacific. They ended up controlling a lot of the power in the Philippines and Japanese influence played a major role in the area. This further helped the Japanese expand their control in the Pacific and take control of other empires. The Filipinos and Americans there were taken as war prisoners and they were held captive by the Japanese Empire. This was a Japanese victory.

This battle was between the Japanese and Americans over Port Moresby. This port held a strategic position in the Pacific ocean, and the Japanese were in the process of invading and occupying this port. The U.S. learned and detected that the Japanese were seizing this port and warned those in the area about it. This was a major battle that destroyed a lot of important ships and planes on both sides, and this battle marked the beginning of naval warfare. It foreshadowed the type of battles the Japanese and Americans would have in the Pacific. This was an American victory

The Japanese were upset at their setback from the Battle of Coral Sea, and they had planned to attack an Allied base on Midway Island. The Japanese first attacked by air and then advance with their ships. The U.S. detected and figured out that the Japanese was going to invade this base, and they ended up making major damage to the Japanese military. This ended up changing the ambitions of the Japanese, as they decided to stop expanding in the Pacific. This was an American Victory.

A battle between the Japanese and Americans on the island of Guadalcanal. There was both an onland and naval part of this battle and it lasted for months. Both sides lost a substantial amount of troops, but the Americans came out victorious as the winners as their hold on the southern Solomons we're threatened again in the Pacific. It showed that the Americans had a chance in pushing back against the Japanese and people gained confidence in that.

This was a battle against the Axis Powers and the Soviet Union. The Axis powers advanced far into Soviet land and it was the bloodiest battle in the whole war. This battle successfully turn favors into the hands of the Allies and was a victory for the Soviets even though they faced the most casualties ever. This was the turning point for the Soviets, as they were able to hold off against German forces. This battle ended when the Germans surrendered taking over Stalingrad, and ultimately helped the soviets become victorious.

This was the war in the Atlantic against the Allied powers and the Axis powers (mostly Germany). This battle lasted for almost 6 years and was the longest battle in WW2. This war was about naval power and who would control the waters in the Atlantic. The Allies and the Axis powers were fighting for the same things essentially, which were expanding their power and influence over the Atlantic trade and travel routes. This battle is obviously significant in the sense that it challenged who had the most power and influence over the Atlantic and waters surrounding Europe. Ultimentally, this battle ended when the war ended, and the Allies came out victorious.

Battle for North Africa (Jun. 10, 1940-May 13, 1943)

The battle was between the Allies and the Axis (mostly Italy) in the North African countries of Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, and Egypt. They fought over the territorial claims of these North African claims, and over the oil reserves and goods contained in this strategic location. This was significant because whoever controlled these lands were able to control minerals and oil for the war- which machinery at the time relied on. They would also be able to control the trade routes and the Suez Canal. The Allies won in the end through against the Axis, as winning against the Italians in this land set up the eventual invasion of Sicily and the Italian Peninsula.
