Image: Me and my three kids]]> 2018-01-25 01:51:01 UTC https://padlet.com/jasminelgarcia/65agflzppqzf/wish/224491540 jasminelgarcia https://padlet.com/jasminelgarcia/65agflzppqzf/wish/224491833 This has been a crazy school year.  First there was the devastating hurricane that affected many of our students, faculty, and staff.  Then there was snow!  And most recently there was a lot of ice, so school was closed an additional two days after the MLK Holiday.  We had a Biology teacher on maternity leave and when she returned after the icy weather another Biology teacher resigned!  I am taking it one day at a time and crossing my fingers that we get all the students caught up and ready for the Biology End of Course STAAR exam in May.  So needless to say, I am a little crazy right now!

Among them are Maya Angelou, Sandra Cisneros, Alice Walker, Pablo Neruda, Isabell Allende, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I write all about their influence in another Padlet titled My Reading Autobiography that I wrote for another course. As a mom, my favorite authors to  read to my children were Shel Silverstein, Doctor Seuss, Sandra Boynton, Marc Brown, and Laura Numeroff.

I have found that the most therapeutic thing for me to do is escape to the beach with several good books.  I especially enjoy going to the beach on a cold day with a nice warm blanket.  It is something about the cold air and staying warm bundled up in a blanket as a I listen to the waves and get lost in a good book - it is very relaxing.  I enjoy spending afternoons in Galveston and Padre Island and hope to return again soon.
