Echelle du développement intellectuel : moyenne entre 85 et 115.

Âge mental = niveau d'intelligence effectif par rapport aux enfants du même âge.

Âge chronologique = nombre d'années écoulées (âge).

Formule élaborée en 1912 par Stern et Terman. Test de QI "moderne" depuis 1939 par David Wechsler.

Test de logique, de mémoire et de raisonnement --> détermine si l'enfant à un retard de développement. Il y a retard de développement lorsque l'âge mental est inférieur de 2 ans à l'âge chronologique.

Echelle métrique : 1er test d'intelligence pour dépister le retard de développement des enfants.
 Sur son tests, il y avait :
Âge mental (niveau d'intelligence effective par rapport aux enfants du même âge) vs âge chronologique (nombre d'années écoulées depuis la date de naissance)
Retard de développement : si l'âge mentale était inférieur à 2 ans de l'âge chronologique
