however if there are no repeated numbers the mode is non-existent.

e.g.

3,5,7,8,8,       - median = 7 

  • Median can also be found by finding which value is in the middle.
  • The formula is= (n=1 / 2)
  • This value gives the position of the median value 
  • ( n = amount of numbers )
3,5,7,8,8 = 5 numbers 5+1=6   6/2=3
the 3rd value (7) is the median

e.g.

5 friends share sweets the collected from trick-or-treating.they got 3,5,7,8 and 8 from each person. find a way to give them an equal amount of sweets each. 

3,5,7,8,8 = 31   31/5=6.2
the mean = a fair share/distrobution

 so each person gets 6 sweets
