I really am enjoying the novel so far. I love how the book is science based but incorporates real-life issues. I think this book is a real eye-opener for teachers who do not understand their students from poverty. The first chapter included a reality check for individuals who lack real-world experiences. Even if we do not know it there will be many students in our classrooms that experience poverty, homelessness, and abusive homes. It is the job of the educator to make sure that the child is safe and does not feel less than any of his or her peers. I am also, very excited to find out where the alligator is hiding in the story. Although I do not have the best science background I am eager to learn about how science is incorporated within the story.

Chapter 2 was a real eye opener for me. I thought it was interesting how the characters in the book were educated but lived simple lives. I noticed that sometimes people are content with a simpler life. I still have no idea where Dajun is. I think he senses danger and does not want to return until it is gone. I am ready for him to return to understand why everyone loves him so much. I believe Dajun is going to scare someone soon and something unexpected is going to happen

After reading chapter 3 I started to get a new feel of Liza's mother. I think she is ready to move out of the community faster than Liza. I believe her mother believes it is getting dangerous to live there. I also, do not believe the lady with a gin bottles has a drinking problem. When I first read that I suspected that she was hanging them from a tree in a secret hiding place (I may be way off). Although I suspect the lady with the gin bottles knows where Dajun is hiding and maybe she is the one who hid him.

I am getting antsy to find out where Dajun is hiding. I sill believe that the lady with the gin bottles is hiding him. however, with this plan the Liza K is coming up with I believe it will not run as successful as she believes. Although, the hunter may not seem aware I believe that Liza K and her friends are going to get caught and that they will not successfully make the hunter believe that Dajun is dead. Maybe the lady with the gin bottles are giving them to Dajun to make him unconscious to stay in place wherever he is hiding.

Chapter 5 was interesting. My biggest question were who were the people in Gumbo Limbo at the time. I do not believe that these people are going to hurt Liza K and her community. I believe that they are going to help in some way. I also feel like Dajun is under their nose somewhere. I believe he is hiding underground. I am still convinced the lady with the gin bottles is hiding him.

I really am enjoying the story so far. The one thing that I found the most interesting was finding out the use of the mini gin bottles. I Have been ranting about it in previous posts. I found that my predictions earlier were wrong. She uses the gin bottles to attract birds. which I thought was very interesting. I also thought it was interesting that the PCP was used to kill weeds. However, with that kind of a substance , I would think it would be harmful to everything around it. So it is possible for Dajun to already be dead from the chemical. I do not believe he is dead because the book would be shorter. I think he has traveled away from the harmful chemical and will return once the water is clean again. I am still unsure of where he has traveled to .

I believe in the next chapter Dajun will finally be found .

Another thing I am waiting to find out is where he his during the day time. Also, I know Liza K. Is sad that her mother is making her leave her friends because they all have become a family. I think that they will not end up leaving . However , I think the lady with the gin bottles will be sent off to get some help.

I was a little sad with how the book ended.I felt as if we will never know what will happen with the characters. I think everyone will still visit because gumbo limbo hole ended up being their home. Dajun is a very smart creature. He knew that he was being hunted and knew how to hide. I believe this book could be a series and follow the life of each character.
