Both the articles “Coming to Consciousness “By Bell Hooks and “Social Class and School Knowledge” By Jean Annoy talks about the differences in social class structure is showed rich and poor secondary and postsecondary class structure have unequal rights toward education. The school implications of social change. Talks about how social class is affected by education meaning most of the schools are divided by income and class.

The majority of the students who receive a high level of education are White Americans that make up most of the percentage of the class compared to any other race. There is social injustice when it comes to education because those who are from the working poor class don’t have access to the resources or materials they need to succeed when it comes to education compared to the wealthy/ middle class. This is a bureaucracy of the school, and the police don’t have any funds received to make the child successful. That is when capitalism comes in and shows who has control power.

Examples of social class injustices in education that are engineered by capitalism are the way schools interpret their students, how much effort is put into their education, and what resources are provided. I believe and based on the articles assigned that these social class injustices will continue because many minorities don't believe they can achieve more based on the financial situations they accept mistreatment. One article that describes this scenario is "Coming to Class Consciousness," how an African American student accepted that she must deal with the mistreatment from her classmates because that is a school her family believes is well enough for her to succeed with low financial issues. But this is an issue we see every day. The richer you are, the better the school you attend will be, the more care you will receive from teachers and the more opportunities will be given.

Social class are injustices in education by capitalism mainly because there are different classes divided for many students who are put into these specific groups depending on their income and racial background coming from rich and poor families. After reading both "Coming to Class Consciousness" and "Social Class and School Knowledge" Hooks and Anyon have showed how many families could not afford to put their students in good school or a well educated school for their children to have a good education for their future. Many parents would sometimes feel that they are sometimes being discriminated based on their background where many poor colored families would receive no support from the schools for their children compared to white families who put in so much effort to make sure their children are receiving a good education for their future that will admit them to great colleges. These articles definitely have a huge impact in todays education society where many students who come from migrant families may have to work very hard for their grades to help them get into better schools and colleges for their future. However, it is upsetting how not all students would receive the same support from their teachers where most students of higher education level are more likely to receive support and go to college and graduate with their degrees. I think that social inequality is still a major problem in the education system where a change must occur to make sure that all students from all groups are receiving the same support rather than one specific group is receiving most of it which can guarantee all students are able to have a good education in a good school that would allow them their own future in enrolling into college.

Capitalist societies value profit and wealth accumulation more than social welfare and equality; they also create social class inequities in the educational system. In such cultures, there is a clear divide between the educational chances available to children from affluent and those from working-class or impoverished households. According to Karl Max and Marx Weber, educational administration differs across societies characterized by social classes. Meanwhile, peasants have limited access to quality education, thus influencing the political and economic environment.

Capitalistic schools are characterized by differential treatment of the academic system based on racial and economic factors. Social class creates destruction in schools whereby lower-class families cannot access better and quality education. The school funding system in the USA relies heavily on local property taxes. Consequently, students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are left with fewer educational resources and possibilities. For instance, in the reading Coming to Class Consciousness, Bell Hook mentions that “Then there were folks like me, full of passion and talent, but without the material resources to do art. Making art was for people with money.”

Again, black Americans in the United States face academic bias and inequalities over the palatal treatment of the white regime. Poor colored families, especially those of immigrant identities, are likely to suffer from extreme discrimination in educational institutions. Despite supporting organizations funding students from marginalized families, discrimination in the education system is still a temporary issue.

In addition, capitalism establishes a framework in which schooling is seen largely as a means to an end—a ticket to a better career and a fatter paycheck. As a result, students are less likely to develop their capacity for abstract reasoning and innovative problem-solving. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds sometimes feel the brunt of this emphasis because they lack the means to acquire these abilities. Finally, capitalism is responsible for the uneven distribution of educational possibilities that contributes to maintaining social inequities across social classes.

Social class are shown in capitalism in many different ways. No matter what, we will view it as the capitalist class who owns the means for producing and distributing goods and also the working class who sell their goods and labor to the capitalist. Capitalism can impact social structure as well because it sets the boundaries within each other such as class. Both, can benefit from each other socially, economically, and politically. The division will always be there in order to function as a society but I think is not done right because of injustice decisions between classes that people are in. Social class can really effect people in their education such as what they might have available for themselves. We view it as, the better social class background the greater educational achievement one might have. In other words, class can contribute with what opportunities they are given. Academic resources including where teachnology, books, and curriculum. Or, being an oppressed or disadvantage area.
In the article, "Social Class and School Knowledge". the author uses various examples of students with an adequate education and others might not get that same opportunity of informative education. Some schools, are very different as we seen in the article and even teachers who might not teach the same because of what type of social classes are in the classroom but it should not be a boundary for students to not get an education that is deserved.

Social class injustices in education are engineered by capitalism by creating social and economic stratification. The separation is due to the government pinning social classes against each other. If Child A goes to a public school, but his best friend, Child B, goes to a private school due to adjacent neighborhoods that fit into separate social classes, The child at the public school will grow with the mentality that his best friend is better than him because he goes to a better school. Child A doesn't even have a chance to go to school with Child B because his parents can't afford the tuition. OR let us say the school isn't private, but they are zoned to different public schools because of the different school districts their homes are in, they are guaranteed to have a unique educational experience. The school funding for one, will be unequal. More than likely Child A will witness or endure some sort of discrimination because of the social class he is in and the type of school he attends. Capitalist schools value money more that the welfare of the children. They will not spend a dime on schools in poverty-stricken communities if they absolutely do not have to. That leaves parents to think, damn if I'm not living in an affluent neighborhood, my children's school will be trash due to a lack of school funding for resources. It's a constant battle with society to try to get the bare minimum educational necessities for students. Higher quality education means better teachers, textbooks, and exposure to places through field trips, the actual facility is in good standing, there's good morale among the school community, etc. If we provide the best for our students, they will grow to be the best. If we separate education by creating social and economic stratification, we are molding a group to be the workers and the other to be the leaders. In other words, education is the foundation, in order to run a business and make money, some people have to stay at the bottom and only a small portion can be at the top. It's a cycle of how America functions through monetary value; a capitalist system.

Social injustices in education are engineered by capitalism by the unequal distribution of resources some schools and classes face when compared to those who are in the higher class system or those who are in the honor class. When compared to let’s say a private school in upstate New York to a public school in the Bronx, there is already an unequal distribution of resources, private schools tend to have loads more money compared to public schools as they get private funding from the student’s parents who are likely higher class citizens, whereas public schools tend to have lower class students, in some cases this could mean that lower class students receive less or not as valuable resources as higher class students, higher class students and schools means getting the “best of best” among educators private schools are going to ensure that parent’s get their money’s worth for their child’s education and provide the best of resources outside of getting the best educators. Whereas lower class people do not have to pay for their child’s education with outstanding amounts of money, but also their children’s resources are limited, sometimes their educators are not as great or their source material (textbooks, reading books etc) are outdated.

Such ideas make education not free to all and something that students have to compete to get into. Capitalism also engineers social class injustices by the type of fundings given to certain schools. Public schools in low income neighborhoods are not given the proper funds compared to private schools in higher income neighborhoods. In general capitalism makes it harder for lower class families to get into higher education because of accessibility, costs, and the competition to get into those institutions. In “Coming to Class Consciousness” by Bell Hooks she adds onto this covestation by stating that students coming from the lower class can have lots of passions and talents but it will be hard for them still because of the limited resources offered to them. One of the traits of capitalism is that they have created social classes necessary to highlight differences among them based on how much capital they have therefore, that is already unfair and unjust in education, for example, the privatization of schools, the underfunding of schools are a form of injustice because the schools are funded basic on the earnings of neighborhoods therefore in poor neighborhoods there is not sufficient funds which limit students growth and development that is unfair because the system is privatizing a fundamental human right.

Also, the school curriculum portrays class injustices since we do not talk about it we focus more on other socially constructed ideas but not how it interests with social classes

This determines the type of schools a child goes to and the type of education one receives. if one comes from a low-income family that means that their quality of education won’t be as good as someone with a higher level of income. This causes a lot of inequalities because there are a lot of kids that don't get a proper education or go to underfunded schools/schools with out proper resources. overall, everything revolves around money and social status, and at the end of the day this also determines the type of education one receives.

In schools, what is offered are the accommodations provided in the education system. For example, private schools that provide a superior education which leads to one’s future and opportunities, and is in a higher wealthier income; as public schools in the low-income community struggle for proper resources, educators, and funds, as a result of this children are denied the opportunities to meet their full potential. In the chapter “Coming to Class Consciousness”, Bell Hooks reflects on a personal experience when she was a young child, wanting things that almost everyone in her school had, however, her family could not afford them, and she felt isolated due to her background. Hooks also reflected on the understanding of historical and economic systems, the struggles of inequalities in social classes, and how it intersects with the forms of oppression.

How should one expect students to be able to concentrate in their circumstances or even feel motivated to go to school knowing their school does not provide enough resources for them.
