This allowed the simultaneous transmission and reception of the human voice. With the advancement of technology, the functions of telephone have improved tremendously over the years where “smart” features such as automatic redialing, call-number identification, wireless transmission, and visual data display are added, without changing the basic design of the phone. "Necessity is the mother of invention" hence, now we have a variety of phones to cater the needs of the people.

Making of Nuclear Weapons (1930s)

Starting with scientific breakthroughs made during the 1930s, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada collaborated during World War II in what was called the Manhattan Project to counter the suspected Nazi German atomic bomb project. In August 1945, two fission bombs were dropped on Japan, standing to date as the only use of nuclear weapons in combat.
The Soviet Union started development shortly thereafter with their own atomic bomb project, and not long after that they developed even more powerful fusion weapons known as "hydrogen bombs", which created tension between Soviet Union and USA, subsequently leading to the Cold War in the 1950s. Currently, North Korea is still regularly conducting tests on hydrogen bombs to reach its goal of creating a thermonuclear weapon that can travel long distance, serving as a huge threat to the rest of the world.

The black death

The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Eurasia and peaking in Europe in the years 1346–1353.
The Black Death is thought to have originated in the arid plains of Central Asia, where it then travelled along the Silk Road, reaching Crimea by 1343. From there, it was most likely carried by Oriental rat fleas living on the black rats that were regular passengers on merchant ships. Spreading throughout the Mediterranean and Europe, the Black Death is estimated to have killed 30–60% of Europe's total population. In total, the plague may have reduced the world population from an estimated 450 million down to 350–375 million in the 14th century. The world population as a whole did not recover to pre-plague levels until the 17th century. The plague recurred occasionally in Europe until the 19th century.
