         <title>Vietnam War</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1945 - 1954: Conflicts in Vietnam, and lack of American interference led to independence from the French Asian empire<br><br>1954: Geneva Accords enacted that temporarily split Vietnam into North and South.&nbsp;<br><br>However, southern leader Ngo Dinh Diem, a strong anti-communist, refused to hold elections which would have led to the north communists winning. America decided to interfere, per the Truman Doctrine, in the south and halt elections.&nbsp;<br><br>1961: Eisenhower leaves office but Diem is facing a full-scale guerrilla by the communist-led National Liberation Front.<br><br>America starts to intervene more and more, completely changing their anti-intervention ideals prior to the Second World War.</div>]]></description>
