Nuclear energy is originated by Uranium , which was first discovered in 1789 by German Chemist Martin Klaproth , and named it after the planet Uranus. It was discovered by passing an electric current through a glass tube , then producing continuous X-rays. http://www.world-nuclear.org/information-library/current-and-future-generation/outline-history-of-nuclear-energy.aspx

The heat splits the atoms making heat energy and neutrons.

Control rods, can control the speed of the chain reaction, by soaking up neutrons.

Water is pumped through the reactor to collect the heat energy that the chain reaction produces. It constantly flows around a closed loop linking the reactor with a heat exchanger.

Water goes through 'reactors' to collect the heat energy. It goes on a continuos loop.

In the heat exchanger, the heated up water gets rid of the heat energy by cooler water, hence turning in to steam.

The steam created in the heat exchanger, is now passed through a turbine, the steam pushes the turbines and they rotate quickly.

The turbine is connected to the electricity generator causing it to ratate too.

The generator then creates electricity.

http://www.explainthatstuff.com/how-nuclear-power-plants-work.html
