Travel blog about Croatia (By Jack)

So here I finally am, in beautiful shoreline Croatia. If there's a country's landscape that I love, it's most certainly this one!

Of course, it's not only the mountains, shore and the very humouros people that live here; If you know me well, you'll know that I love the medieval ages. And what's here in Croatia? Correct! An absolutely massive amount of castles, strongholds, fortifications and everything in-between. Just seeing those stone walls and watchtowers made my heart jump. Sadly, I was, so far, only able to visit one of them because, well, it's raining now... Next day, change of plans - Time to go to Dubrovnik. Weather is supposed to be better there, so I am going to swiftly change places. And I'd never go there just for the weather - There's a beautiful medieval times city there! On top of that, King's Landing, one of the most famous cities of Game of Thrones was filmed there - and there's a tour through the city, showing all the different places and scenes. And guess what - the tour was amazing! The guy who showed us everything was really friendly, open to questions and quite funny. If any of you ever want to go to Croatia, go to Dubrovnik - I can't imagine a better holiday!

But after all, I gotta keep going. So I made the executive decision to travel to Sibenik, a rather small city just northwest to Split. I am planning to fly home the next day, and Sibenik seems like a good final destination to me. Proximity to Split Airport and some more forts honestly made the decision kind of easy. So I believe you can guess what comes next...

I've visited all the forts now, and the deeds they've done are incredible. Defending cities has never been easy, especially against armies that are larger than yours. But forts make this possible. They are the reason the army stationed in Sibenik was able to defeat the vast Ottoman Empire! The History and Countries these forts have gone through, passing on from generation to generation, was just really interesting to hear from the tour guide. But, of course, all good things must come to an end at some point, and thus, the tour of the last fort was over and it was time to get to the Airport.

I hope you liked my travel blog and it gave all of you some more information about Croatia and what cities you could visit when you go there.

Anyways, I gotta go and pick my next destination. Have a nice week, fellow travellers!

Today was the last day for me in New York. The business meetings were done, the suitcases were packed, and I was ready to drive away from the parking lot. It would be a long ride to Washington. I started the car, and just in that moment, a man came by. He asked me if he could drive with me. I didn't know what to say. I mean, a man I have never seen in my entire life or in the hotel, a man who wants to drive with me, even if he doesn't know where I want to drive. But he looked nice, good suit, interesting mustache. I let him in and asked what his name is. He was from France, and his name was Pierre Dubois. He began to talk about his special career as an artist. He also said that he is very famous and the best of all artists. After a while, he said in a proud way how fast his cars are, and he called my car slow as a snail. He wanted to get out at the next stop, and as fast as he came, he was gone. But after a really short period of time, a new man wanted to drive with me. His name was Hans Müller from Switzerland. He works as a normal banker. We didn't talk a lot; he was eating a piece of brownie but really looked to me like he didn't want me to get something. We drove to a gas station, and I was a few dollars short. But Hans didn't want to give me anything, even if he didn't look poor. I was angry, and his eyes were filled with greed. A man heard the dialogue between me and Hans, and after Hans was gone, he came by. A nice man from Germany, Klaus Schneider, who works for the German state, gave me the money, but he wanted to drive with me. The third man, I thought, but I had to get to Washington, so I didn't care about these strange events. He got in my car, and as soon as he was in, he praised everything I had. From my car to my phone and also my driving skills. In his voice, I heard how sad and envious he was. He was so envious that he got out of my car after a while, and I began to relax. Finally, nobody was in my car. But after a short break, the fourth man opened my car door brutally and just screamed at me that he is Ivan Petrov from Russia and that I should drive now. I didn't ask anything, but after a while, he was so full of wrath that he just got out. For five minutes, I was alone, but then, after a while, I spotted a woman with a cardboard sign that said, "I do everything". I just wanted to drive by when I saw that she was giving me hand signs. I let her in my car, but instead of sitting in the back, she just sat in the passenger seat. I asked about her, and she said to me that her name is Sofia da Silva from Brazil, and she works in a dirty business. She laid her hand on my leg, and I realized that the "I do everything" sign was part of the dirty business. Also, she had not many clothes on, just very summer-like clothes. Then she kissed me on the neck, and I heard her lustful voice in my ears. That was too much for me, and at a parking lot, she went to the toilets. I was so tired. A heavy, big man was on the way to my car, a big burger in his hands. He just got in and didn't even ask if he was allowed to. After a while of talking, I knew that he is Benjamin Johnson, an American. He ate his burger, and a drop of melted cheese was on my passenger seat. After he was gone, I cleaned everything up, and the next woman got in. She also didn't ask for permission. She looked very tired and lazy. We didn't talk much, and I just knew her name was Gabriella Thompson and she came from Jamaica. She began to smoke weed, and that was the moment I kicked her out. In the afternoon, I finally arrived at the hotel. The hotel looked luxurious and had a little casino and a poker table where people played poker. And then I realized who was playing there. Pierre Dubois, Hans Müller, Klaus Schneider, Ivan Petrov, Sofia da Silva, Benjamin Johnson and Gabriella Thompson. This was the moment I heard a little "click" in my head. The people all had one special thing, one special personality: pride, greed, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony and sloth. Seven people. Seven sins.

A cave in Missouri (from Leila)

No guide, no tour

After me and my friend, Emma finished our tour through America, we only had one last stop to make before flying back to Germany. In Missouri there’s this huge cave full stalactites and stalagmites. I was looking forward to it the entire vacation. You can say, it was my personal highlight.

When we arrived there, we were surprised how cheap the tour was. On the internet the cave tour was two times the price. Lucky for us.

Only half an hour later the tour started. A young man about my age started coming towards us. I guess he would be our guide. His name was Taylor and he could look good, if he would shave his beard and cut his messy hair properly. Emma didn’t seem to care. She just raved about his body and eyes. Oh god! I hope the tour is not getting complicated because Emma had a crush on our guide.

The cave was spectacular. I have never seen as many stalactites and stalagmites. To be honest, I never really had been to a cave like this before. Taylor was a very good guide. He had this calmly voice and he is one excellent storyteller. He makes every story seem so interesting.

One hour later he brought us to an underground lake. He said we all should close our eyes and count to ten. I was expecting something spectacular. But as we opened our eyes, he was gone and nothing surprisingly happened except his disappearing. At first no one was scared. We all just waited for something to happen. But nothing happened. The only sound, was the water dripping from the cave-ceiling. 5 minutes later i began to wonder if something may have been off and he is not coming from the edge the next second.

Besides me and Emma there were 5 other people. Two elderly women, a young man and a mother with her toddler. I noticed they’re getting worried and I feel a bit panicked, too. I had to do something to calm them down. The next second I heard myself saying: “Well, I guess it is the best to wait for someone to notice our disappearing. Because, no guide, no tour.” As soon as I said the words I regretted them. It was so embarrassing! Why would I make such joke in this tense environment?! The mother answered me, she said, her name was Lisa and that I was right and we all should stick together, if one is moving, everyone is. I felt very relieved, when I found out we both had the same opinion about this.

Half an hour later the young man with the name Noah suggested to find a way out ourself. But Lisa and I stopped him right there. We promised him that we would search our own the next morning.

Luckily we hadn’t to. Because a moment later Taylor came back. We all started to ask him plenty of questions. But he just answered one. “I just was gone to get this right here“, he said and showed us a remote. I stared confusingly on the remote he just handed to me. “Take this and press that.“ As I pressed the red button the lake behind us started to sparkle. On the bottom of it were li

ke thousands little lights, which form together one spectacular light show. After the tour my mouth still was slightly opened by my amazement and I think Emma’s was since Taylor. Because he kissed her on cheek. I think she is never going to wash her face again.

The 17th Oktober 1954 was one of that cold October evenings where the streets are sparely populated and most of the people are hanging our in one of the many bars. But I had something different in mind. I wandered through one of the small and stinking alleyways where the corpses of rats are rotting in the corners and the Trash is stacked male high. At the end of the alleyway was a door in the shadows, that was so hidden, I nearly could not see it. I entered and met my companions. there were 3 brothers that wanted, just like me and many of the other citizens, to flee from the DDR to the BRD. We already had bought many peaces of cloth over the last view month so we would not get cought by the government. This day was the day we planned to finally take the cloth out of the basement be had been stitching up the cloth to a gigantic balloon in and take off to leave to the freedom. It had been a hard time getting the ballon to the rooftop of the building but when the fire on top of the basket finally got ignited and the ballon stood up we got in the basket and prayed that we would not get spottet and could flee. After nearly two hours of not hearing any motores from any planes and having some trouble with keeping the balloon in the air we saw a plane passing by and turning around to us. I saw the man in the passenger seat pointing a rifle to us so one of the Brothers took their gun and shot at the plane. He missed the first shot but the second hit the plane right in the motor. The motor caught fire and the plane turned around and we were alone again. After another 1 hour the fire extinguished and we crash landed in a sea. We did not knew if we mad it or if we would still be inside the border, until we saw another Plane flying to us. We instantly hid under the basket of the ballon, as soon as the Plane started fiering at us two of the three brothers got shot dead while me and the last brother tried to swim to lan with the basket over our heads. When we arrived at the shore we instantly ran into a nearby forrest, because the Plain was still circeling above our heads. We ran for 1 and a half day straight and only stopped when we saw a river to drink out of ans some berrys to eat. After that exhausting run we saw a small hud in the forrest and thought that we would be dead because we would be cached by the police due to us flieing the city but sthe hud belonged to an old and chilled man, that made us something to eat and told us that we were not in trouble anymore because we actually crossed the borderand finally arrived in the BRD.

Now I can live in the peaceful BRD and live a new and very different live than before.

LG: Uncle Luis

Hey guys you won't believe the absolute nightmare I had at this s awful hotel. It was like a horror movie. As soon as we stepped inside a gross smell hit our noses and from there I knew it will be awful. The room they gave us was a total disaster. The walls were all gross and yellow like they had been urinating on the walls. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the First World War and when I looked the first time at the bed I nearly died also the bed felt like a big rock. I’m not sure but I think I felt bed bucks on my back when I first laid down on the awful bed.But there is more. The bathroom was even more awful. The bathtub was al dirty and the shower was a total disaster. Instead of a nice stream of water it felt like I was being attacked by a executioner. And the towels they gave us were soaked with blood. I think because of the many people who died in this nasty hotel. And let's not forget about the hotel staff. They were the meanest people I've ever seen. Every time we asked for something they looked at us like they want to murder us. Once a employee even flipped us of because we wanted a water. But the absolute worst part was the Wi-Fi. Today in the morning i wanted to connect to the internet and share my experience with you guys but the internet was so 🤬 I 🤬 in my pants. The Wi-Fi was so slow I waited one hour to upload this travel vlog. And this morning at breakfast I completely had it. It was so such a poor choice of food and for that the food there was tasted like 🤬 for example the bred was lumpy and the apples were brown I also think that the milk they gave us was expired. Also the plats, the glases and the whole place was dirty.I couldn't wait to get out of that hotel. It was a nightmare that I never want to experience again. I will not recommend this hotel exept you want to die from the expired food or from the nasty room. I give the hotel 0 out of five stars. From Oliver Gerz
