일단 저는 애초의 god의 개념을 '내 공허함을 채워주고 내게 삶의 이유를 주는, 내가 가장 가치 있게 여기는 사람' 이라고 해석했습니다. '일' 이 god이 될 수 있다고 생각을 하긴 했으나, 그렇게까지 god의 정의를 광범위하게 잡으면 제가 잡은 주제에서 벗어날 것 같아 글에 넣지 않았습니다. (그런데 바로 그 점을 집어 질문하셔서 멘붕이 왔습니다)

먼저 저는 god을 가지는 것이 나쁘다고 생각하지 않습니다. 오히려 가치롭게 여긴다는 것이 있는 건 좋은 것이라 생각합니다. 그러나 내가 내 god에 너무 집착하게 되어 인간이라면 마땅히 추구해야 하는 다른 가치들은 (가족에 대한 사랑, 책임감, 정직 같은) 안중에도 없고 god을 좇는 데에만 골몰하게 되는 것이 그 부작용이 될 수 있는 것 같습니다.

Holling의 아버지와 반대로, 내 가족이 나의 god이라고 가정을 해보겠습니다. 물론 가족을 아끼고 사랑하는 것은 좋은 일이지만, 내가 가족을 너무 우선시하고 그들에게 좋은 것을 주고 싶어 하던 나머지 정직, 청렴 같은 가치들을 무시하고 자녀를 부정한 방법으로 대학에 입학시키는 것도 god을 가지는 것의 부작용이 될 수 있다고 생각합니다.

아 그리고 저 개요 원래 짜고 씁니다..

이 에세이만 난장판인 겁니다.

전통적인 형식의 개요를 짤 때도 있긴 하나, 보통은 괜찮은 인트로를 짜내고 나서 글의 전체적인 흐름을 구술체로 적는 편입니다.

Racism isn't solely about physical characteristics such as skin color. It is about a certain race and country with power and wealth abusing those who are weaker. The reason Black people were enslaved wasn't merely because of their skin color; it was primarily because they lacked the means to defend themselves. So when you get offended by a racist, it is not because of your skin color. It is because your group of race does not have much power as them.

This illustrates a troubling truth: humans can exploit and oppress those who are vulnerable.

When Mr. Haley says he is Humane, he is saying that he gives people a cup of water before throwing them into a lake of burning sulfur. 

Christianity, in chapter 4, is alluding to the enslaved people to neglect their own situation and dream of lands beyond life, allowing their persecutors to control them easily.

1) Is religion a tool of those in power to control the masses?

2) Do we believe in God for our happiness? Let's say we died for God while in ministry. Would we have done the same thing if we were to go to hell, regardless of what we did? In the end, aren't we believing in God to go to heaven? Would we still love him even if we went to hell?
