        Caution: Spicy

I have this unusual love for spicy food. My family would cringe as they watch me eat because I always put chili on my food. I love spicy food so much that I almost cannot eat anything anymore that has no chili on it. Suffice to say, I associate myself with chili because even though I’m mostly used as a minor ingredient, I have a huge impact on people’s lives. I make everything more flavorful. During the start of my junior year in college, my parents decided that I stay in a dormitory since traffic in Metro Manila is getting worse and it’s taking the time that I’m supposed to be using for studying or resting. Just a week after leaving home, my whole family is complaining about how they miss me already and how quiet our house is when I’m not around. My friends would also text me, telling me how much they miss me whenever I skip class although I think that they are getting used to my absence now.

Chili peppers have a lot of benefits like Vitamin C which is important in boosting your immune system and for faster wound healing, Potassium which may reduce heart diseases, and Vitamin B6 which have important functions in energy metabolism. Eating chili peppers can even reduce the risk of food poisoning because it contains Capsaicin which Salmonella hates. You see, I’m also like chili because as your friend, I can give you a lot of benefits too. I may not be able to enhance your immune system or appetite like chili peppers but I can absolutely provide some spice and warmth in your life. There are no dull moments when I’m around just like no food is bland when there’s chili on it.
