Some herbal teas often have hot or cold properties; hot herbs are used to treat cold conditions, and vice versa.

PATIENT INVOLVEMENT: Patients should be actively involved in their care rather than passively acquiescing to instructions. Such “patient activation” or motivation for change is more challenging in foreign-born Hispanic, but may be achieved through active dialogue and discussion. (Teach-back system)

BE MORE UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR SCHEDULE: some population of the Hispanic adult have little time for healthcare visitation because they work in jobs that time demanding and put them at risk for health problems. Always consider their work and availability before rescheduling them for the next appointment.

HELP NEW PATIENT ADJUSTS TO SYSTEM: If this is a parent’s first time in a new office, there can be many confusing elements they did not anticipate, and the large size of the hospital made navigation a challenge that was further compounded. Be patient and explain the process thoroughly both in the office and in your correspondence with parents prior to their visit.

ESTABLISH TRUST: Hispanic’s are more likely to fear being treated unfairly due to the barrier of language and ethnicity. However, use “teach back” in the form they are conversant.

INVOLVE FAMILY CARE: Hispanic people are family oriented and including their family in care plan.

PROVIDE WRITTEN INSTRUCTION: employ professional medical interpreters for your limited English proficient patients or Spanish language handouts.

CONSIDER THEIR RELIGION: Most Spanish people are religious are work either want to pray or do other forms of religious activities before receiving some procedure, respect and consider that aspect.
